I got this in my email and it made me think. I feel it's so sadly true.  I just wanted to share it because when we know better, we do better.

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A wonderful Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much , and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life e is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

                        George Carlin

Thank you so much Mr. Carlin!   I coulldn't have said it better myself !

Some of you may wonder why I posted this under politics. It's as simple as this. Charactor is one of the most important things we need in politics. If we spend more time improving our charactor, talking to our children about the basics and teaching them about charactor, then when its time for them to vote, they will make sensible choices. For charactor most certainly does speak louder than mere words.
We will never agree on everything, we all have our visions, our pride, our points of view. We fight over oil, land, religion ect. Meanwhile our children are watching us closely. Have we acted in a manor they can be proud of? We need more diplomacy in democracy. It's not about who is right, but what is best for all. Life will never be perfect. No one ever gets everything they want when they want it. So while we are here on this great earth, lets just agree or agree to disagree.

Can't be a more powerful statment than that! people see the iraq war as misguided, that we found no weapons of mass distruction, so be it, maybe we dealt with saddam in the past, so be it, but in some ones personal life, dont you get married, find out later they might be abusive, buy something then find out it wasnt what you expected, this is what people need to realize, we found no weapons, yes some people might be killed in friendly fire, but the mass graves will end, people will hopefully some day walk down the street, without persecution, or step on a road side bomb. took time to build the u.s.a, when we first began building this country, we had to worry about indians atcking our homes or settlements, scalping our women or children, now all we need to worry about is words, peoples thoughts or beliefs, but have the freedom to make the final judgment of how we live, as long as you dont tread on me!!!!!!!

and the phrase don't tread on me is the powerful debate phrase, don't tread on me is how our laws are also built and phrased! dont to things that will affect other peoples lives, like drugs that lead to crime, drive drunk, that leads to treading on my higher cost of insurance, or causes some one elses death, amazing that i feel i need to further explain the the phrase don tread on me( or common sense rationalization in the 21 century)

My final comment on this subject...(for personal satisfaction.)
I have deleted some post in this subject. Some comments are better off forgotten. As well as some people are better off forgotten.
.....accept the things I cannot change.

God, please grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen! (THIS PRAYER IS NOT JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ALCHOHOLICS...THIS IS GOOD ADVICE FOR THOSE WITH STRESS AND ANXIETY. WE CANNOT DO IT ALL BY OURSELVES AND THAT IS WHY WE HAVE EACH OTHER!)
