I am by far from being a racist.  I am a gay man who has no right what so ever to be discriminatory.

But the singing of the National Black Anthem for the swearing in ceremony was just another way to separate Detroit from the suburbs.  Detroit is not just a place for the African American community....it should be a place for EVERYONE !  I am very very offended.  Was the National Anthem not good enough??

It has now been just a little over 24 hours since we all learned who Barak Obama's choice as a running mate is.  As was stated yesterday, it was a drop off the cliff.  The problem with that cliff is, you would hope to soar to greater heights after launching such an ambitious and talked about subject.  The "Bounce" in politics as it is called.

Obama has said since the beginning of his campaign that this would be "Change That We Could Believe In".  We were all hoping to see a large shift in what Washington has been since the dawn of this country.  The hope of fresh and new seems to be fading into politics as usual.  There had been the real possibility until yesterday that an African American and a Woman could occupy the two top posts in our government.

It is so sad that it appears the male ego has once again reared his ugly head.  There are several women who are very qualified to be President or Vice President of this country.  Mr. Obama now has to answer to the working mothers, the single mothers, the woman walking down Main Street USA as to why a woman was not good enough to be his running mate.

Mr. Obama, you have lost many of us with your decision.  Now you have a lot of ground to make up for because of this.  You had made promises to the American People that you seem to already be breaking.  We had so hoped and believed that you could and would bring the changes that are so necessary to turn this troubled nation around.  You dared us to dream and we did!  There is now the huge possibility that you have thrown a Democratic win for the White House into the gutter.

The Democratic National Convention is only two days away.  Hillary Clinton's name will be put into nomination.  Maybe the super delegates should take your dream away and nominate Hillary Clinton instead of you.  She would be smart enough to choose you as her Vice President.

Brian L. Thompson

Kilpatrick is starting to crack under the pressure

Back door meetings with Detroit's top business executives, numerous phone calls and court trials looming.  Kwame Kilpatrick cannot heal this city.  So who can?  Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

It is told that for a few hours, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's backers thought it was almost over.

The mayor agreed at one point during the past 10 days to let his attorneys talk to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy concessions he was willing to make to bring an end to his case.  But when his attorneys presented them to Worthy, she declined the opportunity, the source said.

Worthy made it clear that once again Kilpatrick and his team got greedy.  Worthy said, 'If I can get that, I can get more.'

So then what is it that Worthy wants?  All of Detroit and the State of Michigan are now looking to Kym Worthy to be a true leader and bring this ugly, slimy and costly mess to an end.  Detroit needs a hero Ms. Worthy.

Sharon McPhail sent a letter to Granholm on Wednesday sent a letter to Gov. Jennifer Granholm's attorney suggesting that Granholm offer to pardon Kilpatrick on criminal charges in exchange for his testimony at the Sept. 3 removal hearing.

In a previous letter, McPhail had asked Granholm's staff if immunity would be available to Kilpatrick if he testified. But Granholm's attorney Kelly Keenan responded saying Granholm didn't have the power to grant immunity in a criminal case.

McPhail argues that Granholm can't hold an administrative hearing while criminal charges are pending and inquire about the facts surrounding the charges if immunity is not offered.

She argued in the letter again that Granholm should hold off on the hearings until Kilpatrick's criminal charges are resolved. She said she will file motions arguing that the hearings should be delayed.

This is just disgusting !

In listening to Judge Jackson on the bench today, he made it clear that Sharon McPhail had telephoned him yesterday.  He did not mention her by name but it was very clear who he was referrring to.  Judge Jackson did not return the call because he felt that it would be inappropriate.  Was Sharon McPhail trying to influence a Circuit Judge?  Talk about improper !  Its disgusting no matter how you slice it.

After watching reporter Scott Lewis' Fox 2 exclusive report on the latest Whistle-Blower Lawsuit Against Kwame Kilpatrick, I personally have seen and heard more than enough.

Allegations of him having prostitutes in his hotel the night that he was first elected into office is astonishing. And then as it is told, his wife and children were on the same floor of the hotel.

Then let's move onto the control that he has over the thugs in the city.  It has been rumored for a long time but this interview blasts it wide open.  The description of shady characters in his office after hours.  The unexplained photos of several women.  What is it going to take to pull this prostitute screwing corrupt jackass out office?

Where in the hell are the Fed's?  In one of his famous speeches Kilpatrick calls for the citizens of Detroit to "Rise Up.  RISE UP!"  It is well time enough to Rise UP !  Enough is enough already.

On January 30th, 2008 that Forbes Magazine named Detroit as the #1 most miserable city to live in? Yep, its true they did! You can read the clip from that article here:

We are all mired in the disgust of what is happening with City Hall, the Detroit City Council and a whole host of other negative subjects surrounding Detroit.  It is definitely not hard to find glaring negatives that surround us.  What do all of the negatives add up to?  Even lower morale for a City that we so want to see thrive.

Here is the Challenge to Each and Every Person:  Find at least one positive subject to discuss every day and post that information so others will know about it and can discuss its finer points.  Each and every one of us can make a difference in how Detroit is viewed when we ourselves start changing our perspective.

There is no doubt that corruption starts at Kilpatrick's desk and flows through what should be the Halls of Justice, the Police Department. The cherry picked current Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings was more than aware of Gary Brown's impending termination based on her own text messages to Christine Beatty.

The evidence shows that Commander Shereece Fleming, Chief Oliver's Chief of Staff, along with Assistant Chief Walter Shoulders and then Assistant Chief Ella Bully-Cummings, without Chief Oliver's knowledge, were assisting Christine Beatty and Kwame Kilpartick in removing Gary Brown and reorganizing Internal Affairs. By removing Brown, the one person who was doing his job for accountability to the Department of Justice, Kilpartick and his administration outright circumvented the DOJ.

Beatty messaged Kilpatrick in apparent reference to Brown's termination letter:

"Chief just read my letter. He is tripping out there."

Assistant Chief Ella Bully-Cummings sent a text message to Beatty a few minutes later:

He is livid! Will call you later this evening. He asked Shoulders and I if we had any discussion with you and whether we were involved."

Beatty responded:

"What did you all say?"

Bully-Cummings responded:

"We said no. And he queried Shoulders again."

My question: Where is the Department of Justice now?

The release of text message document between Kwame Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty has landed Detroit and Michigan back in the New York Times and the national spotlight.

Who can now stand in all honesty and say that the nation is not watching? Right now it is a massive embarrassment to each and every citizen of Detroit and in the State of Michigan.

I write this with all sincerity in my heart. I know there will be those that will want to lash out or blast me for my view or prayer from a better Detroit. Some will look at me and ask what difference does it make to you? You live in Alpena. Last night while I sat in the emergency room waiting for the doctors to take care of me, I continued to think about Detroit. All I kept thinking was “The Great Detroit Divorce”. I live in Alpena not out of choice but out of need to take care of my elderly parents. I moved back here in August out of need of my family.

It will be easier to lash out and blast away at me than it is to find solutions together than being separated as those vs. us. At some point in time, someone signed the divorce papers between the City and the suburbs. What came of that divorce was a bitter ex-wife continuing to fight with the ex-husband(s) who moved right next door with their money, and their power. Like a Dead Beat Dad they continue to not provide support to their first family. For years a fight has boiled over about who is going to take care of the children. The children have grown up with the step brothers and sisters pointing their fingers at each other with contempt.

We all want a better, safer, more beautiful City than Detroit is currently. Just based on various blogs and posts that I have read through on here (which are many), it is very apparent that the cavern is very deep and very wide. So many of us would rather be on the sides lines and grumble about what could be vs. what is. The Mayor, one of Detroit’s own children grew up and was appointed to guide us into a better tomorrow. Now he is charged with several Felony counts because he made decisions against what most the family views as disgraceful to the family name. We had hoped and expected more and better from him. The Detroit City Council, more of the family, is a public disgrace all on its own.

Many individuals who have posted on the boards have told those in the suburbs to mind their own business and let those who live within the City of Detroit to take care of theirs.

It seems for far flung the possibility that the people of Detroit will stand up and tell those in power - No More Will We Accept Business as Usual. And then at the same time turn to our our brothers and sisters outside of Detroit and say it with all honesty and conviction - We need you. We want you to join us in the problems that face us in Detroit. There is no shame in asking for help. There is shame however when misplaced pride stands in the way.

Take away the bitter ugliness that has so divided Detroit away from its neighboring suburban families for decades. Take away the suburbs long entrenched views that they are better than those in Detroit. Because they are not.

I grew up in a family that seen many marriages collapse in divorce. But in our family we have a rule: You can divorce the person you were married to but you cannot divorce the family. An example of this is when my parents attended the wedding of my ex-sister-in-law. She was one of the RN's that took care of me last night in the hosptial. She did it out of respect and love. Not because it was just her job.

So, given all that, from the people of the City of Detroit and to all of those who are in the suburbs, who is going to stand up for what they believe in and make a difference for a Detroit that we all want to call our own? Its time to heal a family divided.

Kilpatrick told the crowd on Saturday: "I'm not being whupped by the devil; I am being punished by my God. I know that my disobedience put me in the situation I am in."

I mean no disrespect to anyone of faith.  I have an emmense belief in God.  However, why is it that when a politician gets in trouble in the public eye, all of a sudden they confess their sins like those of a Jimmy Swaggert or James Baker?

I moved from Detroit this past August back to Alpena to take care of my parents. I still have a love and interest in what goes on in Detroit.
