Is it just me that always run into drivers that drive any where from 5 to 10 miles under the speed limit or do others out there find the same problem? I want to think that the people that drive that slow either do not have a drivers license or they are wanted by the police or are 100 years old I'm in my 50's I drive the speed limit to 5 miles over a couple of years ago we had are van in the shop and when we went to get it and there was a woman in there getting her truck she wrote a check to pay the work and gave the clerk her check and a state ID the clerk asked her for her drivers license's and this woman told him that's just as good as a license's because she did not have a drivers license's.I think maybe if the cops start to pull people over that are going that slow maybe we can get some of these jackazzes off the road.I was watching a news show and they had a piece on safe driving and the cop said that he had to ticket someone because they did not leave a couple car length in between the car in front of them but when you do you have others who think you left that much space so they can weave in and out of traffic cut you off because they think that you just are just in their way, then you have the ones who drive slow and then run red lights you have ones who do not have insurance on their cars until they need their plate and after they get it they drop their insurance I think that they should have some kind way that they can track how long you had that car insurance and if you have had your drivers license for a long time and you keep on having a low number or what ever they use you can not get plates for you car.what do others out there think?

I know of two people that drive as slow as molasses , you know why ? To save gas . they drive me nuts .
It's like , hey , you have overdrive for a reason ! To save gas at higher speeds ! Duhhhh .

you burn more gas going over 55 miles an hour when the speed limit is 40 to 45 there is no reason to drive 5 to 10 miles slower you are not saving any gas you are just being a hazarded on the road.

MICH TRY THIS EASY TO DO TEST BUT YOU NEED A TACHOMETER TO DO IT , THE NEXT TIME YOUR ON THE FREEWAY SET YOUR CRUISE CONTROL AT 55 MPH , AND SEE WHAT THE RPM'S ARE THEN SET THE CRUISE AT 70MPH AND SEE HOW MUCH HIGHER THE TACH IS , I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE DRIVING THE MINIMUM HIGHWAY SPEED IN THE RIGHT LANE BUT IT IS ANNOYING WHEN THERE IN THE FAST LANE , PEOPLE CAN BE TICKETED FOR GOING UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE FAST LANE WHICH CAUSES PEOPLE TO PASS ON THE RIGHT ,MY SISTER GOT A TICKET FOR PASSING ON THE RIGHT ONLY BECAUSE SHE PASSING GOING OVER 70 MPH

I can see your point if these people would just drive the speed that is posted it would be fine the light are time by the speed if you hit the light just right you will make the next but if you go slow you will get stopped and stop and go driving costs you more in gas.then you have the Idiots run the red lights.I have had probablely the same jackazzes ride my azz trying to get me to move but as far as I'm concerned as long as I'm doing the speed limit or 5 over than they need to drive a little slower and not ride my azz.

I was driving on I-94 last week , when one of those " fast " drivers spun out and slammed a wall under the shook over-pas . It had been raining , and there were enough puddles to take a canoe home .
There is a thing called " Hydro-planing ' that makes you loose traction .
Go as fast as you want , but use some common sense please .

There is no "fast lane". If you look at posted speeds it says either 55/45 or on 696 its 70/65. THE MOST YOU CAN DO is the higher posted limit and that is either to keep with the flow of traffic or to pass on your left. Slower traffic uses the far right lane but not supposed to drive less than the lower posted limit. The middle lane is for the regular flow of traffic and the left lane is FOR PASSING, it is not "the fast lane".

Don't let the idea of driving 5-10 miles over the limit fool you as being ok because you haven't been stopped. Look at any county website and they will show you that citations can be issued for infractions 1-5 miles over the limit because it is still speeding.

The slow person that gets me heated the quickest is the one that tries to merge onto the freeway doing 35-45 when the traffic flow is already 55/60 and that person that gets over in front of you and is already going 10 miles less than you are.

Sure there is a fast lane, just like the traffic light with red meaning stop, green go and yellow meaning speed up so you don't run the red. Sheesh where did you learn to drive.

PESSIMISTIC YOU TOUCHED A SORE SPOT FOR ME , THESE JACK OFFS THAT GET ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 35MPH ,I CANT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES I HAD TO DRIVE ON THE SHOULDER TO KEEP FROM GETTING REAR ENDED BY CARS GOING 70 + MPH BECAUSE OF A MORON , I'VE ALWAYS BEEN FOR THE CREATING A DUMB A55 LANE FOR THESE LOW IQ PEOPLE , I REALLY FEEL LIKE RUNNING THEM RIGHT OFF THE ROAD , ALSO PESS YOUR WRONG ON THAT FAST LANE THING FOR HIGHWAYS , THE STATE IS EVEN PUTTING UP SIGNS , SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP TO THE RIGHT

Actually, The left lane is suppose to be the passing lane Mike, the center for normal traffic and the right for slower traffic like trucks etc. I was kidding

I believe that driving say 10 mph or more under the limit can be just as hazardous at times; I see many slower drivers, who granted are driving as safe as they can by not speeding, but are cut off alot, cause backups in rush hour traffic, and so much more. It wouldn't be so bad if they stayed in the right lanes where slower traffic should be.

those drivers should stay in the right lane if they want to drive slow but than on the other hand they do not want to have to stop or slow down more because someone is turning in front of them they are just rude and hazardous drivers they do not care.Just like turning on red you can turn on red from a 2 way street as long as you do not cross traffic I see that a lot also you have drivers turning from a 2 way street to a one way street but they have to cross traffic when you turn left and there is a left turn lane it is illegal to go into the turn lane you are suppose to beable to turn and going into your lane that you need I on one hand do this if I can not make it all the way over but I pull out make sure that I am far enough away so if someone wants to turn they can and STOP and wait until I can go into my lane I DO NOT DRIVE DOWN THe TURN LANE LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE DO and yes if the cop wanted to he could give me a ticket for do that.

you have so many people out there that DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE and the state of Michigan just gives out a drivers licenses my nephew moved to Indiana and even thought he knows how to drive and knows the rules of driving he failed the test 3 times in Indiana and they told him that he would have to study before he could take it again he told us that some of the questions had 2 right answers and he took the wrong one and they marked it wrong he asked why and was told that was not one that they wanted and he would have to read the book.

It sure seems to me that a lot of people on this blog and in Michigan do not know how to drive properly and do not know the laws of the road. The speed limit is just that, it's the limit! The minimum speed on the freeway is 55...this is usually posted. So, on most of Michigan's freeways if you drive between 55 and 70 you are not breaking the law. If you drive over 70 you are breaking the law. If you tailgate you are breaking the law. You can and will receive a ticket for this. If someone in front of you is driving slower. You are supposed to slow down, make sure to leave a couple car length distance between your self and the car in front and when you can pass them on the left hand side when it's safe. If you ride their bumper you are breaking the law. If you pass them on the right hand side you are breaking the law...you can not pass on the right unless you drive ahead a few car lengths in front of the car you want to pass, you signal and then pass...(so they can see you). If you weave in and out of traffic you are breaking the law...it's called excessive lane changing. And no has to get over for you. How do you think you are? This is not a driving law. It did become a custom to move over to the right if you are in the far left lane of the freeway. This only became a custom because the far left lane of the freeway is only for passing...it's the passing lane. You are not supposed to be driving down the far left lane. It's not the fast lane, it's the passing lane. There is no fast lane or slow lane. You are supposed to drive between 55 and 70.

I haven't gotten a speeding ticket since 1982. I hate to give money away. I drive the posted speed limit--HOWEVER, if someone behind me has decided I am not going fast enough, WELLLL, I just HAVE to slow down. Get on my behind and you will get behind. Unless you have a siren and emergency lights I will do the speed limit, no more, no less, Oh unless you are on my tail.
