Treasury Department May Take Ownership Stake in Banks

Having tried without success to unlock frozen credit markets,
the Treasury Department is considering taking ownership
stakes in many United States banks to try to restore
confidence in the financial system, according to government
    officials.

Treasury officials say the just-passed $700 billion bailout
bill gives them the authority to inject cash directly into
banks that request it. Such a move would quickly strengthen
banks' balance sheets and, officials hope, persuade them to
resume lending. In return, the law gives the Treasury the
right to take ownership positions in banks, including healthy
    ones.

Not one F'N thing for people being thrown from their homes. This bill was like pouring a billion gallons of gas on an already inferno. What in the hell were both our Senate and House thinking. Both Democrats and Republicans? Also being supported by both of our Presidential Candidates.

What in Gods name does this particular $700 billion dollar bill have to do with banking? We just gave incentives for Arrow Makers and  Nascar, but a 90 woman nearly shoots herself to death being evicted.

What a sad small country we've become. We just gave $700 billion hard earned dollars by tax payers to bail out NO ONE.

U.S.A. has became worst than communistic Russia and China.

Building up Iraq when they hate us, but we drive our own people to suicide.

And what's even sadder, this money will not help a one damn thing or improve one single situation with peoples homes or health care. Nor Jobs or Economy.

IF ONLY WE DIDN'T HAVE TO LOOK BACKWARDS, SARAH.

Sarah Palin's entire Debate summed up with that constant rant. There you go again Joe looking backwards instead of the future. Along with The Maverick, Maverick, Maverick................etc..............etc...........
    ..etc................

Let's Divert what our Republican President has done. Let's look away, Hell let's RUN AWAY from it. Understandably I'd run too. Did she succeed though? Not even.

It is the past eight years that now has come to roost for the next elected President to deal with. This Debate tonight even set the tone of Sarah Palin's persona further in stone than the others. After what the present Vice President has done with his power to completely destroy our ideals with his blow everybody and thing up mentality. Sarah Palin thinks the V.P. deserves even MORE POWER. Every single question that was asked of her tonight was Diverted to what she wanted to talk about.

Health Care..... I want to talk about Taxes

Bankruptcy..... I want to talk about Energy.

    Excerpts of the entire Transcipt:

IFILL: Governor, please if you want to respond to what he said about Sen. McCain's comments about health care?

PALIN: I would like to respond about the tax increases.

IFILL: Governor, please if you want to respond to what he said about Sen. McCain's comments about health care?

PALIN: I would like to respond about the tax increases. We can speak in agreement here that darn right we need tax relief for Americans so that jobs can be created here. Now, Barack Obama and Sen. Biden also voted for the largest tax increases in U.S. history. Barack had 94 opportunities to side on the people's side and reduce taxes and 94 times he voted to increase taxes or not support a tax reduction, 94 times.

Now, that's not what we need to create jobs and really bolster and heat up our economy. We do need the private sector to be able to keep more of what we earn and produce. Government is going to have to learn to be more efficient and live with less if that's what it takes to reign in the government growth that we've seen today. But we do need tax relief and Barack Obama even supported increasing taxes as late as last year for those families making only $42,000 a year. That's a lot of middle income average American families to increase taxes on them. I think that is the way to kill jobs and to continue to harm our economy.

    IFILL: Senator?

BIDEN: The charge is absolutely not true. Barack Obama did not vote to raise taxes. The vote she's referring to, John McCain voted the exact same way. It was a budget procedural vote. John McCain voted the same way. It did not raise taxes. Number two, using the standard that the governor uses, John McCain voted 477 times to raise taxes. It's a bogus standard it but if you notice, Gwen, the governor did not answer the question about deregulation, did not answer the question of defending John McCain about not going along with the deregulation, letting Wall Street run wild. He did support deregulation almost across the board. That's why we got into so much trouble.

IFILL: Would you like to have an opportunity to answer that before we move on?

PALIN: I'm still on the tax thing because I want to correct you on that again.

IFILL: So, Governor, as vice president, there's nothing that you have promised as a candidate that you would -- that you wouldn't take off the table because of this financial crisis we're in?

PALIN: There is not. And how long have I been at this, like five weeks?

That's about the size of it Sarah.

IFILL: Sen. Biden, you voted for this bankruptcy bill. Sen. Obama voted against it. Some people have said that mortgage- holders really paid the price.

BIDEN: Well, mortgage-holders didn't pay the price. Only 10 percent of the people who are -- have been affected by this whole switch from Chapter 7 to Chapter 13 -- it gets complicated.

But the point of this -- Barack Obama saw the glass as half- empty. I saw it as half-full. We disagreed on that, and 85 senators voted one way, and 15 voted the other way.

But here's the deal. Barack Obama pointed out two years ago that there was a subprime mortgage crisis and wrote to the secretary of Treasury. And he said, "You'd better get on the stick here. You'd better look at it."

John McCain said as early as last December, quote -- I'm paraphrasing -- "I'm surprised about this subprime mortgage crisis," number one.

Number two, with regard to bankruptcy now, Gwen, what we should be doing now -- and Barack Obama and I support it -- we should be allowing bankruptcy courts to be able to re-adjust not just the interest rate you're paying on your mortgage to be able to stay in your home, but be able to adjust the principal that you owe, the principal that you owe.

That would keep people in their homes, actually help banks by keeping it from going under. But John McCain, as I understand it -- I'm not sure of this, but I believe John McCain and the governor don't support that.

There are ways to help people now. And there -- ways that we're offering are not being supported by -- by the Bush administration nor do I believe by John McCain and Gov. Palin.

IFILL: Gov. Palin, is that so?

PALIN: That is not so, but because that's just a quick answer, I want to talk about, again, my record on energy versus your ticket's energy ticket,

BUT THE SUBJECT WAS BANKRUPTCY GOVERNOR PALIN?

IFILL: You both have sons who are in Iraq or on their way to Iraq. You, Gov. Palin, have said that you would like to see a real clear plan for an exit strategy. What should that be, Governor?

    Her NON-ANSWER

PALIN: I am very thankful that we do have a good plan and the surge and the counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq that has proven to work, I am thankful that that is part of the plan implemented under a great American hero, Gen. Petraeus, and pushed hard by another great American, Sen. John McCain.

I know that the other ticket opposed this surge, in fact, even opposed funding for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Barack Obama voted against funding troops there after promising that he would not do so.

PALIN: And Sen. Biden, I respected you when you called him out on that. You said that his vote was political and you said it would cost lives. And Barack Obama at first said he would not do that. He turned around under political pressure and he voted against funding the troops. We do have a plan for withdrawal. We don't need early withdrawal out of Iraq. We cannot afford to lose there or we're going to be no better off in the war in Afghanistan either. We have got to win in Iraq.

And with the surge that has worked we're now down to pre-surge numbers in Iraq. That's where we can be. We can start putting more troops in Afghanistan as we also work with our NATO allies who are there strengthening us and we need to grow our military. We cannot afford to lose against al Qaeda and the Shia extremists who are still there, still fighting us, but we're getting closer and closer to victory. And it would be a travesty if we quit now in Iraq.

    IFILL: Senator?

BIDEN: Gwen, with all due respect, I didn't hear a plan. Barack Obama offered a clear plan. Shift responsibility to Iraqis over the next 16 months. Draw down our combat troops. Ironically the same plan that Maliki, the prime minister of Iraq and George Bush are now negotiating. The only odd man out here, only one left out is John McCain, number one. Number two, with regard to Barack Obama not quote funding the troops, John McCain voted the exact same way. John McCain voted against funding the troops because of an amendment he voted against had a timeline in it to draw down American troops. And John said I'm not going to fund the troops if in fact there's a time line. Barack Obama and I agree fully and completely on one thing. You've got to have a time line to draw down the troops and shift responsibility to the Iraqis.

We're spending $10 billion a month while Iraqis have an $80 billion surplus. Barack says it's time for them to spend their own money and have the 400,000 military we trained for them begin to take their own responsibility and gradually over 16 months, withdrawal. John McCain -- this is a fundamental difference between us, we'll end this war. For John McCain, there's no end in sight to end this war, fundamental difference. We will end this war.

She didn't give an answer on McCain's plan so she offered:

    IFILL: Governor?

PALIN: Your plan is a white flag of surrender in Iraq and that is not what our troops need to hear today, that's for sure. And it's not what our nation needs to be able to count on. You guys opposed the surge. The surge worked. Barack Obama still can't admit the surge works.

She still didn't offer a Comment on a Plan.

    Entire Transcript of the Debate:

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/02/debate.transcri
    pt/

All Sarah Palin did was SURVIVE this Debate. But still no substance. And winking at the camera and smiling like look at me here, almost enforced Tina Fey's portait of Palin on so many levels, it made her look like even more the fool. More Tutored and Poised, but from the get go her response to Gwen Ifill was like a defiant adolescent determined to avoid any real answers to anything. "  And I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear "

HOW ABOUT JUST GIVING US A STRAIGHT ANSWER TO JUST ONE QUESTION?

Just because you hang on until the end of the bout, doesn't mean you won anything. It's called you avoided the knockout punch. The Darn It, Heck of,

Commenting 20 times, 'Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again. You preferenced your whole comment with the Bush administration. Now doggone it, let's look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future.'

Just didn't impress upon many that you could run the country if needed. This naive kid just can't comprehend that what has taking place in the last eight years will have shaped this country for years and years to come. And to try again and again just to blow it off like the past years and events wont matter shows how inexperienced this woman really is.

Bush's past will be our nightmare for a very lengthy time to come. And what JOE was conveying but Palin was trying so hard to divert was that McCain will be the SAME as the last eight years. But what is more frightening, is that Palin seems more in sync with both Bush & Cheney then McCain. And that my fellow citizens is a brew for more impending disaster.

Palin walked on the stage, didn't fall down and survived. But in the end showed she still couldn't answer one question asked of her. Instead again choosing to Divert to the subjects she felt more comfortable with, no matter how out of context they were.

And if Sarah Palin can't deal with the past and how because of that past, we now have at present a complete total disaster on our hands. How in the hell will she be able to offer any solution to it when she keeps trying to hide from it like it never existed. The past in reality is NOW.

IF ONLY WE DIDN'T HAVE TO LOOK BACKWARDS, BECAUSE BACKWARDS IS STILL WHERE WE ARE. THE DAY SHE UNDERSTANDS THIS, IS THE DAY SHE WILL BE ABLE TO GAIN SOME SORT OF CONTROL OF THE SITUATION AND OFFER THOSE ANSWERS. BUT UNTIL THEN,

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF DENIAL.

BUT SHE DID REINFORCE ONE STATEMENT TO US ALL,

    NEVER AGAIN.

OH YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT SARAH, WHICH COUNTS YOUR TICKET OUT.

A whole lot of somebody's liked him down here too. The handsome face with the most beautiful blue eyes is now gone. Paul Newman was one of those actors you'll never forget. There was something about him that the others just didn't have. The intensity.

Personally the movie I thought produced two of best performances from both Paul Newman and  Elizabeth Taylor was, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. And it was my favorite of both. A character has to come across as convincing, like it's not fiction your watching. But the lives of actual people in the real world. The characters they both played did exactly that. You got absorbed by what you were watching. And frankly no matter how many times I've watched this movie. I still die laughing when the part of the mother says in a line, How can I calm myself with everybody looking at me like I've got big drops of blood on my face.

I laugh until tears are running down my face. Also when the Doctor says I wish I had a pill that would make people disappear.

But the performances throughout Cat on a hot tin roof were phenomenal.

The first movie I saw Newman in was the Story of Rock Graziano, Somebody up there likes me. I was about 10 when I watched it, then The Hustler. I was around 15 when I saw Cat on a tin roof for the first time. I thought to myself damn is this guy good looking and those eyes.

Then a movie that i don't think got much recognition,  and became another Newman favorite. Paris Blues with his wife Joanne Woodward, Sidney Poitier and Diahann Carroll. I always got into Music Movies. Young Man With A Horn with Kirk Douglas I've seen at least a 100 times, and never get sick of it.

Long Hot Summer, Absence of Malice and Harry and Son completes my favorites. But the list seems never ending.

The link Below will list all of his Filmography credits.

Not all actors age like fine wine. Richard Burton did, the older the sexier ( But then Burton died at 58 ). It was Paul Newman's younger days that captured his looks. His wife Joanne Woodward is in every sense of the word an acting icon herself. I'm sure now she'll be lost. The roles he did take, he turned into performances. I never knew why it took almost 30 years before he won his first Academy Award in 1986 for The Color of Money. He was nominated 7 previous times and lost. Then nominated another 3 times after 86 and lost.

    All the Nominations and Wins.

So another acting Legend is gone. I know i have said  it a thousand times, but they just don't make movies like they did in the 40s, 50s, & 60s. I know others will differ. I know TCM will set a day aside within days to honor this mans works. For those of you who are younger in age, Watch Them.  Because your going to see what has since been lost in Hollywood. STYLE........ And Paul Newman defined it.

Well we have this narrow way with these two countries on both sides.

But tell me why this enhances your Foreign Policy Credentials?

Well it certainly does, because our next door neighbors are Foreign Countries.

    Are you getting all this?

Jesus Almighty, have we ever in History had someone so dumb trying so desperately but failing so miserably to convince us that they are in fact not Dumb? Sarah, do Mr. Magoo a favor and SHUT UP. Because like Magoo, McCain needs his eyes checked along with HIS BRAIN.

(She steps in at the 5:00 minute point. )

Now, I went to a Pentecostal Church for awhile. And the Pastor wasn't from Kenya, but an American born Black. And his views on WITCHCRAFT?

NOBODY CAN HOO DOO YOU BUT YOU!

People who really worship and put their selves in the hands of Jesus. Do not believe that people can bring on doom in their lives. Why? Because they are covered in the Blood of Jesus. They fear God, not Satan.

Only HYPOCRITES claiming to be real Christians, would have to have somebody lay hands on them to protect them from HOO DOO.

Pastors preach that Jesus will have your back at all times. I'm no religious fanatic that's for sure, in fact anything but. But I will tell you my favorite verse in the Bible ( And no, I've never even gotten remotely close to reading the whole bible ).

    NKJV

    Isaiah 54:17

No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, said the LORD.

NOW, DOES SHE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF JESUS OR SATAN?

YES, YOU TELL US ALL ABOUT IT. PLEASE

WASHINGTON — One of the giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis paid $15,000 a month from the end of 2005 through last month to a firm owned by Senator John McCain’s campaign manager, according to two people with direct knowledge of the arrangement.

The disclosure undercuts a statement by Mr. McCain on Sunday night that the campaign manager, Rick Davis, had had no involvement with the company for the last several years.

    $30,000 to $35,000 a month to $15,000 a month recently.

Well that explains it, with the Payola reduced. It's like he's really not still involved. OKEY DOKEY

At least two other people associated with Mr. McCain have ties to either Freddie Mac. The lobbying firm of the Republican that Mr. McCain has enlisted to plan his transition to the White House should he be elected, William Timmons Sr., earned nearly $3 million from Freddie Mac between 2000 and its seizure, federal lobbying records show. Mr. Timmons is founder of Timmons & Co., one of Washington’s best-known lobbying shops. The payments were first reported by Bloomberg News.

Mark Buse, Mr. McCain’s chief of staff for his Senate office, also is a Freddie Mac alumnus. He and his former lobbying employer, ML Strategies, registered to lobby for the company in July 2003, and received $460,000 before the association ended after 2004.

    OH BUT WAIT!

Mr. McCain and his advisers have argued that whatever connections Mr. Davis and other McCain campaign officials have had to the mortgage giants, Mr. McCain in the Senate has been an advocate for reforming them. And they have suggested that Mr. Obama is linked to the companies through donations from their employees ties to former officials there, including James Johnson, another former chief executive of Fannie Mae who was the head of Mr. Obama’s vice presidential search team until stepping aside after coming under criticism for getting a mortgage on favorable terms.

    But....But......But........Still....... OBAMA.

    They are BIASED!

AND McCAIN IS A LIAR. AS USUAL.

AGAIN, KEATING FIVE- S & L SCANDAL. Ring -a- Ding Ding!

Everybody's hands are dirty here. Only McCain's hands have been in the cookie jar longer. 1982
