Good point - That's the real reason this "War" is so damned expensive....America is by and large a SEA POWER.....That ability to project and protect America's interests any place in the World, with a first-class blue-water Navy, puts us far ahead of any other Military force in the World today.......BUT.....Afghanistan, and Iraq & Iran are of course for all purposes LANDLOCKED...Not even a drunken child would put Capital ships and UNREP vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.....SO.....

Every bomb, bullet, tampon, tube of grease, aircraft tire, radio fuse, can of Pepsi, WHATEVER....MUST GO BY AIR!

Of course, you're right about the other, also...No way the US is gonna lose Israel, or let it be overran.....They're the ONLY country in the whole Continent that will let us use their turf as a forward Base, or a defensible by us) outpost....I know, we have airbases and camps all throughout Iraq and Afghanistan, but we weren't exactly invited, were we?

Turkey doesn't even allow us their airspace anymore, and, buttholes or not, their Sovereignty must be respected (to a point)...

One a long time Ranked Officer with the 119th Mi. And second, His SON. Who has served in Cuba and Two tours in Iraq.

And BTW, another cousin who served in NAM. He was the Above's Brother and Uncle. 4 Brothers drafted during Nam. Two youngest served stateside, Two oldest/ one to Germany Medical Core/ Other served IN COUNTRY NAM.

Sorry to disappoint, but i very much research what I post on. And research on Nam was hands on, from the memorials I went to from the age of 8, to seeing cousins & friends leaving for the unknown. And returning from a nightmare they would never be able to lose.

It is an insult to make a remark about my cousin and friends remembering the ONLY LAST STAGES.

My cousin was IN COUNTRY in 1966, Friends were in 1967,68,69.

They remember the nightmare as it happened, not in any last stages.
