My Dad, and my uncle as well served in World WarII in the Navy. My little brother was born on D Day, June 6, 1945. I remember when the War ended. My family were all gathered around the radio. When they said the War was over, everybody rush out say laughing and crying, hooting and hollering. I remember thinking what's wrong with these people. Regardless how unpopular the War, those are still our boys over there getting blow up. I respect, and am proud of every last one of them. Thanks Longshot

Very nice post, Longshot; I have the privelege & honor of living with my fiance's 89 year old father Stanley. He is a WWII Veteran that served in the Pacific Theater of that war. His stories about that troubled time in our American history are quite remarkable & astonishing at times. He was on one of the islands there and left for dead in a foxhole for 4 days. When he was finally found, he had severe jungle rot in his feet and legs because of the dampness of that foxhole so he was taken to a hospital in San Francisco where he was honorably discharged. Our troops, past & present should always be remembered & respected but for this Memorial Day weekend, we can show them just how great they are-My flags on my truck will wave prominantly through this week and the weekend.

Dedicated to CPT Harry Lee (AL) 11th Armored Cav 1970, and all my Brothers and Sisters who came before me including my Father and his 4 Brothers, and all those that will come after me.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.
