Right now the North Carolina Republican Party is running an ad on their web site and soon on broadcast television, showing an excerpt from former the pastor of Presidential Candidate Barack Obama, one of Reverend Jeremiah Wright's so called hate speeches, then adding a voice over and graphic saying that Gubernatorial candidates Bev Perdue and Richard Moore are supporting Obama and therefore support Wright and therefore the duo is too extreme to get elected in North Carolina.

GOP Candidate John McCain says the party should not run the ad.  See if you agree with him, watch this tripe, then read my take and add your own please.

Here's the deal: I'm not weighing on what's he's said in the past, I'm weighing in on those who would capitalize on the hype of this man.

Yo North Carolina GOP, what a stretch to imply that Bev Perdue and Richard Moore support the Reverend Wright because they support Obama. Given that philosophy... the millions who voted for Obama thus far in the primaries and caucuses also support Wright. WRONG. If a candidate is Catholic, does that make me Catholic? This is pure exploitation and a distraction from real issues. It may be fair to question Obama about his relationship with Wright, but it is not fair to link all that support Obama to Wright. Ridiculous.

This Sunday in Detroit, Reverend Wright will be the keynote speaker at the NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner, part of annual Freedom Weekend event the organization uses to raise funds and awareness about itself and its agenda.

53rd Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner
Theme: "A Change Is Going To Come "
Keynote Speaker: Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr.
5:00pm Cobo Conference Center

Yo NAACP. Surely you could have found someone less divisive to speak your fund raising dinner or does the hype help you sell tickets? What is the point of having this man speak? I am not black, but I can understand the points the Reverend makes in the speeched that have garnered so much attention, but I am not black and I have not lived in this country as black person, so what do I know about it? I do know this... this is not the way of Dr. King. Any talk of hate -- only begets hate. An eye for an eye -- and we all go blind. This does not mean be a victim. Stand up. Protest. But lose the hate, it serves no one. How will having the Reverend Wright speak at the dinner help the NAACP? Would he have been asked if there was no controversy surrounding him? How is this moving people forward?

SOMEBODY ENLIGHTEN ME -- I WANT TO KNOW.

I don't know what i can add to this. YOU SAID IT ALL, AND SAID IT 100% TRUTH.

Martin Luther King Jr.

" Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only LOVE can do that "

King makes Wright look sick, IN THE HEAD.

why because yall seen some snippets of a service. He is a great pastor with over 8000 members of his church. no you wouldn't understand because you are not Black. Race is still a huge issue in America whether you believe it or not. Yall have called us n***ers and held us back and steriotyped us and beat us, and lynched us for over 500 years, but when we discuss these injustices we are labled the bad ones. Just like when the mayor said he hasn't been called ni##er this much in his life. instead of embracing him and having a stand against those saying and doing those things you all persecuted him for saying it. we are tired of being good Ni$$ers and keeping our mouth shut. we are still under attack and people need to know. Malcolm X spoke up and what happened. Dr. King spoke up and what happened. Kennedy spoke up and what happened. REv Wright and others speaking up is not the problem. the problem is the ones that kill, or try to denounce or scrutinize the truth and those whoe are willing to speak it. deal with your people before attacking ours.

It's time for people to take out the garbage. I'm talking about all the garbage that is in our heads from living in the past and worrying about the future. To truly live, people need to learn to live in the moment because that is what we are right now.

As I hear politicians (and their critics) talk about what has happened in the past and what they promise to us for the future, I am truly amazed that people buy into that garbage. I want to know how politicians can create an America that encourages all of us to be more focused in the present tense. All any of us have right now is the moment.

It's time to take out the garbage ... the garbage that is distracting us from living in the moment.

When is someone going to air the story of Hillary's Pastor in prison for molesting a seven year old in his home?

I think that the NAACP is giving him a venue to try and let people see what he really is about. Good or bad we’ll find out Sunday. As a “white guy” what do you perceive, in what reverend Wright said, as racist? Please tell me exactly what comment, and what do you think he meant. I hear more anti-American government policy, than things that are labeled racist or anti-white. Help me out here.

How do you change the Email on your blogs, I went to a new ISP and I can’t get my comment notifications. HELP!

Det313 thanks for your comments. I am a huge fan of MLK / Malcom X and the Kennedys. Also a hige fan of Ghandi and his philosophy -- NON - VIOLENT.
I agree that racism clearly exists in our country. Det313, please read my comments carefully, I am not attacking black people.

SEEDUB,

Would this be concidered racist?

"God D**m the USKKKA!!!"

Or anyone that can answer is fine too.

Det313,

Even Blacks call each others the "N" word. Does that make it right? Please don't say it's different!

I do not agree with the Language of Rev. Wright because I know that this cannot help to relieve the race issue. But Rev.Wright has emerged as a person who identifies with the black experience in this country. Right or wrong, he is being thrust into a position of spokesperson for a less affluent black constitiuency. And whether people realize it or not, Most black youth of today do not identify with MLK's teachings. The black experience in this country is certainly unlike any other groups experience and until whites can comprehend this concept, there can be no "movung past" this issue.

SEEDUB, While it is true that N-word is common in the black community, that word coming from a white is especially flagrant because they gave this word to blacks along with it's "no-self worth" definition. Blacks using this word on eachother is self evident of the pshycological damge inflicted on people of color. Whites should just steer clear of this word and allow blacks to demolish it.

Kraniak, I agree with you. I never heard of Rev. Wright before Hillary Clinton's mean Geraldine decided it was the ends that qualified the means to present this expose' of Sentor Obama. It's funny that no one seems to remember she has tried to make her years as the first lady part of her resume, and how she lied about her and their daughter dodging snipers. Let's dig up some dirt on her minister(If she has one). I am a catholic. My former parish priest (Our Lady Gate of Heaven) was accused of child sexual abuse (while he claims he was an alcoholic). Does that mean I agree with this horrible mess? Pope Benedict was a member of Hitler's Youth group and later served in the German Army. He deserted, was captured by the U.S. army and was a pow until the war ended. The Pope says it was mandatory to join "Hitler's Youth. And he claims he deserted the army. Should I a lifelong Catholic leave my parish or the Church. Well I didn't. I don't agree with pedophilia or the Nazi's. My point is you can use any type of tactic for personal gain. That is what Clinton did. I 'd like to know how she feels about infidelity? Obviously she agrees with it. Her husband was impeached because of it. He had several women from Arkansas to Washington and Hillary didn't leave the marriage. We all know about Whitewater. We could go on. Do these scandals make her cupable? What mud could she come up with about Obama or his wife/ Non. So what if this is the first time Michelle was proud to be an American. She does have the right in our democracy to have an opinion. At least she is hon

At least she was honest. Sen. Obama is a positive force who has inspite of Hillary's devisive tactics has brought more people of different backgrounds together. I think Asking Rev. Wright to speak at the Freedom Dinner is not the proper forum to try and get people to understand this marine Korean war veteran. We need a mending of fences . I don't think folks really will hear his message. As conciliatory as it might be. I think Dr. King would want there to be a message about the possibilities of having our first African American candidate to make it this far in the presidential race. What about one of Dr. King's children, or President Kennedy's daughter. We need to work together. Let us not continue to highlight our diffrences. we know they exist already. God Bless us All.

Know this, speaking loud, even pointing out truths, even interjecting words like "white" and "black" in a speech does not make the words in the speech "hate."

What I've heard in the sound bites is hating the hateful acts of whites. Those hateful acts include...

Now, I'll let you finish this statement. This might help you out get focused on truth.

SEEDUB,

I understand that part. He also said "USKKKA" in another video. My personal opinion is that there needs to be a separation of Church and State.
This country will never move on with this, my opinion. Just listening to the news today, they're pointing the finger at Bill Clinton for racial issues towards Obama.
Remember what I say, the Democrat Party is falling apart with Hillary and Obama right now. I think Hillary needs to get out of the race. She stays in and fights this, McCain will be the next President. The fact that Obama is starting to slip too. ABC asked some tough questions, by the way was fair and Obama couldn't answer them.
Have you noticed that McCain is distances himself from Bush? He was in New Orleans yesterday and it was big news here.

I find it interesting that everyone wants to say what a great man MLK was. He was hated in his day was considered a hatemonger a trouble maker and a race baiter during his day it was not until after his death that this country by for the most part acknowledged his wonderful contributions that he made to human kiind. To tell the truth about yourself, your loved one or your country is not hateful. Rev. merely addressed issues that are true to and even the United Nations agreed with many of his comments (mind you Dr. King said many of the same things about this country, and those that don't believe it should research Dr. King). He is an american citizens and entitled to his opinion, I really thinks this speaks to the intolerence in this country. Until we come to terms that that there are two americas and that some people love this country but also sees it's faults we will never make any progress on healing this country. As far as the North Carolina promotion of the tape of Rev. Wright, let us just hope that they will also show McCain with John Hagee and Rod Parsley that is a very scary trio. I resent the lack coverage of these three, if Rev. Wright is relevent to Sen. Obama then Hagee and Parsley is relevant to McCain.

Hagee endorced McCain only, McCain is not part of his church. There's a big difference.
McCain even said yesterday for NC not to run the ad.

Yes, he is and has had an association with Hagee, why does he not have to denounce and reject his endorsement and support? He himself says that he considers Hagee one of his spiritual advisors. Don't you think that Catholic americans deserve to know? I am not Catholic and I am offended by Hagee. If he disagrees with his ideology why not say it, why did he accept his endorsement? Of course he asked NC not to run the ad, he does this out self preservation, he does not want Hagee and Parsely to hit the mainstream media. Ask the average Michigander who these two are and they have no idea. It is hard to talk about Rev. Wright when you associate with these two wackos, don't you think.

It is ridiculous to believe that everyone who supports Obama supports the Rev. Wright. However, I believe Obama agrees with Rev. Wright. He had been a member of his congregation for how many years? Now all of a sudden he wants to distance himself. I am so tired of hearing people whine about what happened so many years ago. I didn't have a slave, none of my family ever did. I know anyone reading this post has ever been a slave themselves. Let's move on.

Hockey mom.

What do you perceive, in what reverend Wright said, as racist? Please tell me exactly what comment, and what do you think he meant by it. I hear more anti-American government policy, than things that are labeled racist, or anti-white. Do you think people still practice racism today? I don't think anyone brought up the issue of owning, or being a slave, but racism against black people, does still happen today. FACT!
It seems that whenever a black person brings that FACT that it does, he is ostracized. Like justwan2know said MLK was labeled the same way, they want to label Dr. Wright. Check my Blog, I have one of MLK’s speeches, about the Vietnam war, and he sounds just as “racist“ as Dr. Wright. Which is 0%. Help me to understand what is so racist about his comments?

BREAK it Down for me!

I am the Senior Web Producer for MyFoxDetroit.com and the Political Coordinator for the MyFox family of web sites coast to coast. I am crazy about politics, but not so much about the politicians. What's the difference? I like to think that government is about serving the needs of the people. I credit those who do that, and criticize those who don't.
