The husband of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow told police he used the Internet to make a date with a prostitute and paid her $150 for sex at a hotel, according to a police report.

Thomas Athans, 46, co-founder of the liberal TalkUSA Radio network, was stopped by police who were investigating Internet-based prostitution at the hotel, according to a police report obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press under the state Freedom of Information Act.

Henry Kissinger said "power is the ultimate aphrodisiac." Then why the hell do these guys have to pay for sex. Here's the thing with Athans, his wife is the one with the power. I wonder if she will stand by her man on the podium as he publicly apologizes, the way that Eliot Spitzer's wife did, Kwame Kilpatrick's wife did and Bill Clinton's wife did.

My guess is NO WAY!! First of all how stupid do you have to be make arrangements on the internet, with a cheap prostitute no less. $150 is a deal compared to what Spitzer paid.

Secondly my wife would cut my you know what's off if I hired a hooker. I think that's what's been talked about the most around the office water cooler. Why do these women stay with their man? We'll see what the good Senator does. Let me ask you what you would do if you caught your spouse cheating? Would you stay wit that person?

What message is being sent to society when these women stay with their cheating man?  Is it one of forgiveness and a great example of the life-long commitment of marriage or do these women come across as victims attracted to power? Since Senator Stabenow has the power in the family it will be interesting to see how she handles this.

What's your take?

Who cares if Debbie stands by her man? Yet, again we see the way the law really works. The John, Trick (Predator) gets off with understanding and support from his wife. While the BLEEP (Victim) gets the full blow from the brutal arm of the law. Now we know why AIDS and prostitutes AKA drug driven sex slaves are running rampant in the USA.
PAT THE TRICK, STONE THE BLEEP... He was a witness all right. Or was that the punch line for the joke. No, I say he was a partner in the crime and they offered the deal to the wrong party. If we started prosecuting the Johns instead of listening to them with sympathetic ears and offering plea bargains to the Tricks, Prostitutes would not have customers and if there is no demand there is no supply. Get it!! Someone besides the ladies are profiting off of their tricks. What is the real truth?

I guess that really says alot especially since Stabenow graduated from Msu with a degree in Social Work. So much for Social Workers. They can't even fix their "own" family so how do you expect them to fix yours?

Prostitution should be legalized, regulated and taxed just like alcohol and tobacco. It is naive to think it can be eradicated.

I am sickened by the fact that the GIRL was punished, but the cops make "deals" with them men involved. What a double standard there is in TROY!! How many lives have they wrecked?

I agree. The media appears to be supportive. I do not hear anyone in the media asking any tough questions. Everyone repeats the same message he is honest an truthful and cooperative. She cooperated with him why is she the only one being punished? Women really have not come as far as they think. There is a definite double standard. I guess the young women got used and abused twice once for cash and secondly by the system at here expense.

How can you be a witness, while you participate in the activity an enjoy it enough to pay for it?

I agree with the double standard suggestion. The both committed a crime. They should both be punished. If you murder someone, then call 911, you still murdered that person and murder is a crime, reguardless of cooperation. They should not praise him because he cooperating with police. Seems like the same old cliche'. Money and power triumph's over justice. Think about it....................

Well it looks like the same old media wash. Repeat the same thing over and over and then drop the subject. No hard questions. No problem solvers here, No Perkins asking questions and answering them himself.

This story will be dumped and covered up.

I am the Senior Web Producer for MyFoxDetroit.com and the Political Coordinator for the MyFox family of web sites coast to coast. I am crazy about politics, but not so much about the politicians. What's the difference? I like to think that government is about serving the needs of the people. I credit those who do that, and criticize those who don't.
