Michigan Democrats are said to be close to an agreement with the party's two presidential candidates on holding a do-over primary.  Party officials met with both campaigns
yesterday. The clock is ticking: a vote would have to be held by June 10th.

A primary could cost up to $12 million, but Govs. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania and Jon Corzine of New Jersey, who are both supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton, have said they're prepared to raise $30 million for new primary elections in Michigan and Florida.

A team of four Michigan Democrats is charged with coming up with a solution to the problem of seating the state's delegation at the party's national convention in Denver -- U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, Democratic National Committeewoman Debbie Dingell, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick and UAW president Ron Gettelfinger. They talked Thursday with both the Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama campaigns to try to get closer to a solution on a do-over primary. A mail-in vote touted by Levin earlier this week has fallen out of favor, especially with the Obama campaign.

We should have a caucus. It's cheaper, easier to plan, and you don't have to worry about Republicans coming in and messing it up!

Hillary should get the votes, since every canidate had the opportunity to be placed on the ballot and it was their choice to be on it. Obama didn't want to be on the ballot so he needs to quit whining.

NO, I am so sick of the political maneuvering to change rules in order to try and give Clinton an advantage. I'm not willing--I need a job and can't afford it.
Its evident the Clinton camp thought Obama would be an easy win and we all know why. Why make changes now, let it be decided at the Democratic Convention and save the state money.

Spending up to $12,000,000 on a do-over primary is a waste of money that Michigan can NOT afford right now. I say let it stand.

Another primary for the Democrats paid for by the Democrats, with condemnation for those of the Democratic Party that pushed the primary forward. Next time leave things alone. If they can't raise the monies to do over, then let the present outcome stand.

GRANHOLM created this mess. Majority of Michigan didn't a change of our primary. Now we have to pay (money we don't have) for a second primary. This will reflect in my future voting. Where's all the new jobs our governor said she would create?

We had a primary election here in Michigan several weeks ago. Hillary was the only candidate that seemed intelligent enough to know that somewhere down the line that our votes would in fact matter, and placed her name on the ballot. Now, over a technicality it is being determined how our votes should be counted and delegates awarded. Obama left his name off ballot and should receive zero, zip, notta single delegate. Hillary should get'em all. By the way, I am republican so it really doesn't matter to me who gets them. This is simply a matter of principal. Why should anyone have to spend another cent to hold another election?

The National Democratic Party has no right to dictate to any state when it has to hold it's primary. It's job (if any) is to make certain a FAIR selection process has taken place.

Was it fair in Michigan?
Was there voter fraud in Michigan?
Did everyone hae the chance to vote that wanted to?
Did each candidate have sufficent opportunity to put their name on the ballet?

What is so wrong with a state changing their primary date? Is it because the tally numbers will have to sit on someones spreadsheet for an extra month?

If our delegates are not seated at the national convention based upon the original voting we did I may just switch my vote to Republican this coming November

And Granholm get off your butt with the rest of the michigan democrats, collect some brains between you and make the National party understand.

I for one was very upset about Hillary's and Obama's names were not on the absentee voters ballot and would like to have that honor of voting my true choices.

I think the whole thing is a joke and waste of time and money, money our state doesn't have. Obama chose not to have his name on our ballot that was his choice. It's not right that politics and famous people can have the laws changed or not be enforced on them. Think about I mean if we(the state) wanted a second primary because we weren't happy with the way the votes were going do really think they would gives it any thought to have a re-do? No, so why is it so different for him. I think it should stand as is he had his chance and he obviously didn't think Michigan was that important.

The original agreement signed by all in the Democratic party was that Michigan and Florida were not to count! This is why not every name was on the ballot. Dodd received almost 4000 votes and he had dropped out of the race!
Leave it alone and move on!

What additional rights and money of ours did the Democrats give away?

Did you see the Republicans almost laughing about how they had the Democrats and knew they'd get whatever they asked for?

Our Democratic "Leaders" are a bunch of losers. They'll sell us down the road for a vote. That's typical Granholm-Kwame

Of course now the Michigan Republican Party needs Republicans to work properly...what a slap in the face!!

Come on Michigan Democrat Leaders, you are incapable of running your party without Republican Help!

Instead of selling more of our rights and favors because of your blunders, stand up to your guns and live with your earlier decisions.

Oh wait we've got the Granholm-Kuwame Democrat team. What did Granholm say would happen in 5 years? You wonder what she was smoking when she made that speech. I don't need to say anything about Kwame he only has to open his own mouth.

Headline should be "Democratic Leadership seeks help from Republicans to seat delegates at National Democratic Convention".

Hey! Maybe the Republicans will seat there own at the Dems party and we'll see some votes for McCain.
