Hatred in the Election Process

I am so tired of so much backbiting in this election especially against Obama, it's absolutely full of angst and hatred. The country seems more divivded than it ever was especially Democrats and Republicians I find it very sad that we can't come together instead of apart? I'm afraid to think of whats going to happen closer to election time, it's getting where people are identified by what party they choose instead of who they are. Can we come together instead of dividing?
