I would love to own a home in Florida, so when winter comes I can stay warm for 4 months, that's one way of keeping it out. Keeping the heat in will be costly, the oil heating oil prices will be going up, I plan to get an old wood stove and burn wood.

I like James's idea......lets all take a 2 or 3 month leave of absense, pack up and spend winter in Florida!
But then again, with this global warming happening, we may be in warm weather this winter; who knows? I remember January the temps went to 69-degrees.......was that last January or the one before?

Thank you jmx123, Al Gore knows that global warming is happening, by the way he's the only one that knows thats why he won a Nobel.
I hope we do have a warm trend because I hate the winter.

I like to keep it a little cool in the house in winter. If anyone comes over, I would suggest wearing a sweater!! LOL
The only time I like it nice and toasty is in the morning when we get out of bed.
Putting a rolled up towel by the bottom of the door is a good way to help keep out the cold air. Also, make sure your windows are not only closed, but locked as well. It helps them seal properly.

Actually he won the Nobel because they are left wing fools over there. The nobel has nothing to do with weather since when has that brought peace, oh and global warming is a theory and has not been proven but the suns is going through its hottest cycle right now which has been proven and around 2014 is when it starts to go through it cooling cycle only a fool would believe al gore brought peace with a his stupid fake global warming effects just like he invented the computer right Democrats??? lol as i shake my head in disgust.

1)Programmable Theremostat
2)Caulking around windows
3)Putting more insulation in your attic
4)That plastic that goes over windows
5)Insulating my water heater.
That's what I did and I'm WORE OUT! :0)

Keeping warm in the winter is easiest to do when you have a well insulated and sealed home... However this leads to other problems associated with the airtightness of the house.
If you want true comfort this winter I might suggest to you that a nice pair of flannel Pajamas might be the way to go. Short of that basic precautionary measures like Caulking around doors and windows and servicing your Furnace will go along way toward making the winter months a bit more tolerable. There are new insulations out that a person can buy that provide an R-30 value and are easy on the hands when installing. Check out "Ultra Touch" at Bondedlogic.com. And remember that when our house is sealed to keep out the cold it also keeps in the polutants. Many of our household items emit VOC's and other Noxious fumes that cause a variety of problems in the human body when the weather is nice try to air out the home for opptimum comfort this winter.

I LOVE SNOW!!! BUT HATE THE COLD!!!!!

If you are going to be outside in the cold for long periods. I find it best to buy them hand warmers. Put one in each of your shoes/boots and one in each pocket front and back.

if you are wearing a stoking cap and it has edges fold over stick one in on each side of each ear... And I also put on in the palm of each glove it the only ones that I let touch my skin because I will move them from the palm to the back of the hands off and on..

You can stay warm for a good 5 to 8 hours and I love mom and dad to have them in the car just incase of emergince..
