Just a quick note about my Saturday night.  I was honored to be the emcee for the Night of Hope Banquet to raise money for the Rosemary A. Hockney Foundation.  It's the second year that I have been asked to be involved and the second straight year I have left amazed at the work being done.

I would encourage you to go to their website.  http://www.rosehockneyfoundation.com/

In short, they give money to families of children with cancer.  The ramifications of dealing with the disease go far beyond just the illness.  There's loss of income, bills, house payments or rent and many more things.  They reach out to help these families but again the website could do a much better job of explaining it.  I know times are tough, but if you ever wanted to give to a worthy cause, trust me this one should be near the top of your list.   Mike Hockney, Robin Sanderson and their staff do the kind of work that people may never hear about and that's unfortunate.

Also thumbs up to the Mirage banquet center for the job they did in hosting the event.  The food was outstanding and their staff was second to none.

And finally.  When you travel with Tom Kowalski you go in style.  The Killer is actually the one that got me involved with this and I have gone with him the past few years.  Jim and Tricia WIlson of Wilson Limos in Waterford gave us transportation for the evening.  Now perhaps that's because they didn't want Killer on the road after dark, but the truth is, they wanted to be involved with a great great cause and they took care of our little party of 5.  Again, class, pure class.

Thanks to all.  Even if you don't choose to donate.  Take ten minutes off from trying to figure out the 2009 NFL draft and check out the Hockney foundation website.

Thanks in advance.

Since 1997 I have been the Sports Director at Fox2. As a native of Washington, DC, I had no idea where my career would take me but landing in Detroit has been a blessing for me and my family. The combination of a great quality of life and the opportunity to cover a sports landscape that's second to none has been fantastic.
