The Bible says "For the love of money is the root of all evil" but let's not get it twisted for some like to say money is the root but that's not so. People have killed and plotted to kill friends,co workers and loved ones. Some have sold their body, mind and even their soul all for the love of money for it's not the money but what one is willing to do for or to obtain it. Yes it's inticing in the heat of the moment but the consequences can be long lasting and devastating. It has chanced lives, marriages, broken up families and even caused some their freedom. So the next time you take that white envelope with that green piece of paper with the faces of Presidents on it think about what is it really costing me? But even more then that.....is it really Worth it?

Since the bible according to you does say it is the root......then it must be the root and not what you would do for it.

1Ti 6:10 For "the love" of money "is the root" of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

And it`s not the money itself, but the inappropriate love of it.

Very nice post, deepthinker; The money itself is a blessing but the greed & avarice it can produce can be devastating. I find my wife & I hyave more fun at a charitable Bingo event, walking in the park by the lake or just spending alot of quality time at home with each other taking care of her father. The small things in life are the most blessed.

True so very true, people get so confused when they see dollar signs, You can by people, and people are treating themselves as materials and any seat in POLITICS, can be brought for the right price, Look at the bum that's running the school system she has been nise enough to use school funds for her personal use and no one has removed her yet either, dollars, favors keep the bums in office.

Money must be the root of all evil for the school system because they have actually closed more schools & seen worse conditions than before the State Lottery's inception. Coupled with corruption & mismanagement, our metro area & state are losing to this greed. And the biggest losers are our children, who are seeking an education to make the world a better place for their children.

Good post, it's sad how many people live their lives to obtain more and more money at the expense of whoever, manybe even their souls, under the preception that money is going to make life so much better. So many die never realizing that the best things in life are free and everthing that they were looking for was there all along.

ACTUALLY THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER POWER IN THE UNIVERSE IS FREE FOR IF THE RICH COULD BUY IT THEY WOULD MONOPOLIZE IT AND IF THE GOVERNMENT COULD CONTROL IT THEY WOULD PUT A TAX ON IT. THAT PRICELESS JEWEL IS CALLED LOVE.

You're very insightful, deepthinker. Good post. I'd like to add that I think money is the root of all motivation because of the value we place on it.

Hey, Car. What bingo hall do you and the wife go to? I go once in awhile myself. Either Rose Mack Hall or North Gratiot hall. I lose more than I win, but it's a fairly inexpensive way to go out with family and/or friends. The proceeds, like you say, go to some type of charity, too.

North Gratiot, Stooltime; We have had great luck lately with the Emerald tickets, hitting 4 or 5 times for the $175 lucky number this year alone. The bingo halls as a majority usually benefit local schools, churches and very community minded organizations. It's great knowing that even if you just sit & play all night without winning, someone somewhere still benefits with new school equipment or much needed funding to make many lives better.

I agree too, it's an excellent post! Too bad we live in a microwave society...wanting everything right now...people live for the moment and have learned to justify their wrongness with everything from "I ain't the first one to do it" to, "oh well, if you didn't see me take the money then it wasn't me". People have justified their wrongdoings for so long that they themselves even belief what they are doing is ok, or right because somebody else did it.

A gentleman indeed. I am the president of a community action group in the city of Detroit established to promote dignity, honor and respect for it's citizens. People treat others the way they do because we allow them to but if we first respect ourselves we then can demand the respect of others.
