Quality television is slip slip slip sliding away - these past seasons and into the summer ( overloaded with lame game shows and reality shows), but there is one television show that is a must see - it's the quality repeats - of - ELI STONE - an attorney on top of the world, he has it all and more and then he hears the music - which changes his life.
ABC - is letting us see again Why this show was a hit - critically and touched people personally. Eli Stone hears the music and changes his life for the better and we all can see why and enjoy the change of life - and there by examine ours.
A great cast, that you can like and a story line that is intelligent and enlightens and is entertaining - all in one show, on ABC - Now on Tuesday at 10 pm...
This is one show that you can keep the kids up for - and share with them.
Below is the ABC description of the show - its worth a watch.
Is it possible to change life midstream and get back to who you are at your core? From Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money, Everwood) and Marc Guggenheim (Brothers & Sisters, Law & Order, The Practice) comes a story about a lawyer who finds himself at a crossroads between the man he has become and the man he wants to be... even if that means being a prophet.
Driven by ambition, Eli Stone (Jonny Lee Miller, The Flying Scotsman) has built a successful career at a top San Francisco law firm in representing the biggest and richest corporations where "screwing over the little guy" is common practice. After experiencing a series of odd hallucinations, including a crooning vision of George Michael, Eli turns to his neurologist brother, Nathan (Matt Letsher, The New Adventures of Old Christine), only to be told there is nothing wrong with him. As the visions persist, he's anxious to find the cause of his delirium and seeks the help of Dr. Chen (James Saito, I Think I Love My Wife), a Chinese acupuncturist who specializes in holistic medicine. Though skeptical of his practice, Eli finds Dr. Chen can help him recall important memories from his past.
Eli's visions continue to intensify and begin to affect his practice, relationships and how he is perceived. But it's not until Eli puts his own life in peril that Nathan recognizes similar episodes their father shared and reconsiders what may be ailing his brother. Upon another review of the symptoms and an MRI, Nathan discovers Eli is suffering from an inoperable brain aneurysm that's causing his illusions.
If Nathan represents science, Dr. Chen represents faith. As Eli struggles to cope with his diagnosis, he looks to Dr. Chen for his take on the relationship of his revelations to his aneurysm. Dr. Chen suggests there could be a divine answer for why he's having delusions of grandeur - Eli may be a prophet.
While Eli is skeptical of being a prophet, his visions have helped him to recall what his father once impressed upon him -- "You're meant to do great things... speak inspired words... you're going to help people." With his father's words in mind, Eli redefines his outlook on life and his intent as a lawyer, beginning with a case in which he represents an old acquaintance against one of his firm's most important clients. Despite opposition from his imposing boss and future father-in-law, Jordan Wethersby (Victor Garber, Alias), and fiancée Taylor (Natasha Henstride, Commander in Chief), he chooses to stay the course.
Eli's resolve will be further tested by his colleagues, who include his sassy assistant, Patti (Loretta Devine, Crash), and fellow counsel Matt Dowd (Sam Jaeger, Catch and Release), an ambitious, competitive shark who exemplifies everything Jordan would like Eli to be. He'll also be challenged by Maggie Dekker (Julie Gonzalo, Veronica Mars), an inexperienced, junior associate who questions his commitment to change.
Eli Stone stars Jonny Lee Miller as Eli Stone, Victor Garber as Jordan Wethersby, Natasha Henstride as Taylor Wethersby, Loretta Devine as Patti, Sam Jaeger as Matt Dowd, James Saito as Dr. Chen.
ELI STONE - Pilot - Is it possible to change life midstream and get back to who you are at your core? From Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim comes a story about a lawyer who finds himself at a crossroads in life, caught between the man he has become and the man he wants to be... even if that means being a prophet. President Bush has cemented his place in history as the worst US President - ever. If not historians need to rewrite history and put him in his deserved place.
Bush's lies and deception about the Iraq War should have been enough. Bush's shredding of our civil rights, the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights should have been enough.
His heming and hawing, his celebratory trip to Iraq, while millions of auto workers, auto supplier workers, and businesses that depend on the auto companies feared for their jobs, families and futures is damnable.
Bush and the Southern Senators must have closed their eyes, covered their ears, and ignored speaking up - for the auto companies, while China, Japan, German, Italy, France were giving their domestic auto companies millions of yen, eruos, to support their manufacturing bases..While they forced the Big 3 auto executives to grovel, on a world stage. The whole world watched as Senators from the US, embarrased auto executives and US workers.
His failure to strongly endorse a bailout to the Detroit 3, in the House and Senate and his failure to stand up to Southern Senators who represent foreign auto makers -and who have given billions in tax dollars and incentives to locate their plants in non-union areas - to the detriment of US workers - is damnable. But NO - he went further.
Bush has agreed to a Detroit Auto company bailout that includes a provision that the Detroit 3 - pay Japanese and Germany wages that Southern Senators fought for. He now wants to have Japan and Germany to dictate - wages, benefits and working conditions for US auto workers - that is damnable.
The UAW workers are not greedy - they organized to get better pay, benefits and working conditions - that all US workers now enjoy.
If it were left up to the companies (ie: Walmart), they all would hire foreign workers and pay Mexican and Chinese wages ($4.50 / $2.50hr). The minimum daily wage in Mexico - is $5.00 a DAY...a day...
If you want to see an employer gone amok - not caring for the public, look at George Steinbrenner, owner of the New York Yankees who thinks nothing of paying $25 - 30 million dollars a year to a baseball player - why because the public pays the freight. He is building a new $1billion dollar baseball stadium. Jerry Jones is building a new $1billion dollar Texas football stadium.
The auto companies may have made mistakes in the PAST, but they are making changes, trying to set the right course.
Look at Michigan - with its 10% unemployment, and seven year recession for the effects of the Big 3 - right sizing. American deserves better from its President, its Senators.
America is US you and me ...the workers who go to work, feed our families and hope for a better life ...
Bush - Japan - Germany are not on our side.
I hope President Obama sets a correct, right, course for America and reverses the wrongs of Bush / Cheney and the Republicans.

OH SHUT UP - ALREADY, Sarah Palin.
Failed Republican Vice President and Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin is still spouting ignorant robo comments about President Elect Obama and poisoning the era of cooperation.
In an interview 11-12-08 with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, she says she is still willing to debate the William Ayers-Obama connection - she would want you to believe that they are domestic terrorist duo, still formenting plans to bomb US buildings. She and John McCain, who still stands by his most ignorant selection of a Vice President, have some members of the right wing Republican Party - still - believing that Obams is a domestic terrorist because he served on a Republican founded philanthropic organization with Ayers. Some right wing Republicans encouraged by fanatical right wing radio commentators, still believe that Obama is a Muslim, a terrorist, that he is not an American citizen.
Sarah Palin is still feeding the hungry for ignorance right wing Republicans. John McCain and other emerging forward thinking Republicans should sit her down and say - Shut Up... educate yourself and then speak. She who railed against the liberal media - is taking advantage of the willing media, to enhance her image, to establish her Palin 2012 campaign - as any candidate would, but she is ignorant and a media celebrity only because of her mistaken selection as VP, and because she is 'hot' and ignorant ( a male wet dream)...Those McCain advisors who know of her ignorance and rogue behavior - should publically ID themselves and tell the truth..so the American people know the truth.
If Palin and other fantatical right wing Republicans want us to believe their false propoganda against Obama - maybe we should make up some false ignorant propoganda about McCain/Palin - like:
McCain is a secret Communist ...brainwashed and indoctrinated to the greatness of Communism during his five years living with Communists - ignore the fact that he was tortured endured extreme hardships as a prisoner of war - believe the theory or fallacy, that he was secretly selected because of his famous father and his position as a future POW hero - to become the first Communist President of the United States, oh they waited a long time for him to get the nomination - and oh he failed them - miseralby.. and
You get Sarah Palin as a bonus. She lives only 55+ miles from the Russian border. Russians could easily slip across the border at night and have sent her subliminal messages or radio messages while she slept - about the joy of being a Communist...wow...how is that for ..the ignorant masses of fanatical left wing liberals...
This has to STOP, intelligent people must speak out and educate and enlighten those that need help to bridge the gap of fanatical thought. We have a chance to restore Amerian prestige and honor around the world...we can't let Sarah Palin and others to discredit President Elect Obama before he is sworn in - before he has a chance to change America - to make us all proud, to make us respected around the world - again...Give him a chance.
Sarah Palin and all right wing and left wing fanatics shut up, and listen - let deeds be the voice of a new American renewal.

Stop the robbing...stop banks and credit card companies from robbing and cheating its customers, by charging 27% - 32% interest rates on credit card debts and imposing fees that are punitive - paying for the banks mistakes.
Tommy Newsome, 63 years old of Texas, owed $5,000 and his bank raised his interest rate for no apparent reason. He said, " I never missed a payment ...the bank is just looking for a reason to maximize profits..." It has to stop....
People condemn former President Jimmy Carter years for its high interest rates, but these rates - rival those of years ago and are higher and are contributing to the national economic meltdown and lack of confidence in our banking and economic system. It has to stop....
State legislators and Congress must cap all interest rates at 15% and limit other punitive bank and mortgage companies rates and charges.
FYI: Prior to 1990, credit cards charged a late fee of $5. to $10. and a fixed interest rate of approaching 20%. Today, the average interest rate is about 14%, but fees as high as $39 apiece and penalty rates of up to 32% can raise the cost of loans. Banks often penalize card users by:
> Charging rates and fees 'at any time, for any reason'
> Setting a midafternoon payment deadline, so payments recieved at days end are considered late.
> Assesing steeper late fees on accounts with higher outstanding balances.
> Approving a charge that exceeds the account credit limit, then imposing an over the limit fee and penalty rate.
> Allowing late fees and finance charges to push the account over the limit, triggering penalties.
> Assesing fees each time a purchase takes the account over the limit, rather than charging one fee if the end of month balance exceeds the credit limit.
> Imposing 'double-cycle billing' to calculate monthly finance charges based on two months of activity.
> Imposing a penalty rate if consumers pay bill to other creditors late
> Raising a card holders interest rate based on 'market conditions' or business strategies'
> Reducing credit limits so borrowers are using more of their avaialble credit, thus justifying higher rates. USA TODAY (11-10-08).
Customers should take responsibility for over spending and over charging, but they should not be taken advantage of, because banks and credit card companies often encouraged and aided customers financial mistakes by making credit to easy and to available.
Write or email your state legislator or Congress member and tell them to prevent banks and credit cards companies from abusing their customers.

Detroit has been awarded $500,000 for adding bike racks to DDOT buses - the total cost would be $680,000. to add bicycle racks to the front of Detroit buses - to expand ridership.. (10-24-08, DetNews)
Waste and a luxury ..Detroit bus riders deserve better...
I used to drive to work past bus riders waiting, waiting in cold blustery weather, on rainy days/nights, on windy days/nights with no protection - no where to sit during long waits for a bus to come. There are no bus shelters at Joy-WParkway, WWarren-Evergreen almost everywhere you look, there are NO bus shelters. And that has been - for year after year after year.
Detroit bus riders need buses that run on time, that are clean and BUS SHELTERS, that's basic...and that's what's needed NOW..not bike racks...
Detroit MDOT and the Feds should rethink this issue and allow Detroit to build - bus shelters with this money. But there needs to be accountability - where is the $20 million dollars for a new crime lab?
Bus shelters first, bus shelters now... add your comments....

kilpatrick - former mayor of detroit - after watching the over two hour sentencing hearing - observations..
arrogant, smug, unremorseful....the mayor is in denial of his actions and the consequences of it.........he us unbowed.. he seemed desperate to rant at the judge - but finally agreed with his attorney - to stay silent, for his own good, but not really understanding his mouth would have gotten him in deeper.
he and his wife set a poor example for the public and young people...struggling to understand the significance of this situation....
the mayors father - defending his son how - disgusting and offensive - when he stands in the shadow of his potential prosecution - he should have intervened and properly advised his son.
malik shabazz - racism lives...kilpatrick is not a victim - misplaced and not appropriate in kilpatrick's case, the angry statements should have been directed at kilpatrick, so that detroit's youth - know that if you do the crime - you have to pay the time...crime doesn't pay or deserve - sympathy..
a police officer doesn't need a gun to their head to feel fear...its the situations that you know how you should react and act and can't that are most scary...the mayor doesn't understand that and i think the public doesn't either...white and kinney made truthful statements about their encounter with the mayor...a lot of people just cant understand it - only persons put in a situation like that can understand....
remember Marion Berry - Kilpatrick will return - people will forget, forgive and not remember the actions and legacy of this sad chapter in detroit history...
sadly today is NOT the end of this chapter in detroit history...more is coming to damage the city and its reputation...
this is not over - remember Tamara Greene / Manoogian Mansion party....

Christine Beatty is no soccer mom - she was the 2nd most powerful person in Detroit and one of the most powerful women in Michigan.
She is not a helpless - woman depicted by her attorney. She is a divorced woman, with alimony, a family to support her and a family (her husband's to take care of the children) - she is not alone and penniless.
She entered into a adulterous sexual relationship with the mayor as an adult - she conspired to fire two police officers, she conspired to lie to the public, the media about a variety of issues related to Detroit and its taxpayers.
She knowingly LIED, PERJURED, herself under oath - in a court of law.
She should be prosecuted.
The text messages are important public documents that give us a view of how business was conducted in the Kilpatrick Administration and offers a chance to correct the abuses, now that we are aware of them.
We still need to know if:
Carlita Kilpatrick, committed a felony in the assault of Tamara Greene at the Manoogian Mansion party. Did Kwame Kilpatrick conspire with police executives, Governor Granholm, AG Michael Cox and others to cover up the actions of Carlita Kilpatrick and obstruct justice.
Who killed Tamara Greene; and what no bid contracts were made with the use to the text messages. We need to know what we don't know that is in the text messages that effect Detroit taxpayers, suburbanites and others with whom Kilpatrick and Beatty dealt with.
All the text messages should be made public - Beatty can get a fair trial - Stephen Grant did - with all we were able to learn about him - thru the media.
Christine Beatty is no Stephen Grant - a fair trial is not jeopardized by these messages.

Should President Bush and Vice President Richard Cheny (and other top aides and lawyers) be investigated and prosecuted for War Crimes, in regards to, the detention and treatment of detainees of the Iraq War and The War on Terror?
The documentary ' Torturing Democracy' on Public Television tells a horrific story of the United State of America engaged in acts that violate Humanity and the Geneva Convention - written to protect prisoners of war. It is very difficult to watch - to realize that the USA is engaged in these illegal and immoral actions.
Watch and comment: TORTURINGDEMOCRACY.ORG
US Senator John McCain would not be alive or running for President if he was subjected to the horrific torture that Bush-Cheney have endorsed and allowed.
Our US Constitution has been shredded, our Bill of Rights has been shredded our civil liberties abridged and violated - and yet we blithely fail to understand the ramifications and future consequences.
US Senators McCain and Obama should make their first Executive Order - a STOP order and a repudiation of these actions against - prisoners of war, and the War on Terror, our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Comments:
"Torturing Democracy recounts how the Bush White House and the Pentagon decided to make coercive detention and abusive interrogation the official U.S. policy on the war on terror...You'll see and hear some things hard to bear but you'll also meet some government insiders who refused to go along, who stood up and said 'this is wrong.''' – Bill Moyers, Bill Moyers Journal, Oct. 10 2008
"This powerful, damning documentary …recounts in merciless detail the steps the Bush Administration took on a road to torture, beginning less than a month after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. …It’s like a train wreck: You cannot look away even though you are horrified and appalled." – Candace Talmadge, North Star Writers Group
"Torturing Democracy features a number of state department and military officials dead set against these 'enhanced interrogation' policies. …It also supplies interviews with prisoners who spent several years locked up, tortured and eventually released - all with no stated reason. …There’s fresh footage not seen in past stories from Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib, and fascinating archive footage of US Army training against the type of torture favored by the Chinese against troops in the Korean War, prompting one quote: ‘We have recreated our enemy’s methodology in Guantanamo.'" - Jim Weiner, Public Media Digest
"In one dramatic scene, former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage describes being waterboarded as part of a training program he went through before being sent to Vietnam. Did he consider waterboarding to be torture, Armitage was asked. 'Absolutely. No question.' He continued, 'There is no question is my mind – there’s no question in any reasonable human being that this is torture. I’m ashamed we’re even having this discussion.' No one who has seen this dramatic documentary is likely to buy into the 'rotten apples' narrative any longer.
"Simultaneously with the release of 'Torturing Democracy,' its producers have also published for the first time a damning document issued by military authorities at Guantanamo clarifying the highly coercive techniques – regularly identified by the United States as torture when used by other nations – which the Bush Administration had approved to use on prisoners in the war on terror."– Scott Horton, The Daily Beast
"The National Security Archive Project at George Washington University has created one of the most important portals publicly available of the video clips, documentary materials, statements and other valuable resources on the journalism, litigation, scholarship and advocacy surrounding America’s management of post-9/11 combat detainees." – Steve Clemons, The Washington Note

Michigan is ablaze with fall colors.

Munising, Michigan in the UP...October 11, 2008.
photo by David L. Malhalab, M News Service
If you have time this week end, get out and drive around our State, its ablaze with color.
Some areas have more color, depending on wether or not they have had cold weather and rain. In Munising we found areas of spectacular color and others that were muted, including downtown Munising - because they haven't had consistent cold weather. I took a Pictured Rocks cruise (normally shut down by now) and it was a fantastic voyage - with magnificient rock formations and a photographers dream.
So get up and get out...head, north - east - south - west - and take your camera, buy some cider and doughnuts and enjoy the color that is Michigan in the Fall....

General Petraous has taken a postion on Afganhistan, and talking to the enemy that Barak Obama has spoken out about, leaving McCain to rethink his statements - or be on the wrong side of the Afganhistan war and the General, he adores who is running it.
John McCain, a war hero, a US Senator, has disgraced himself with the current low road that he and his unqualified running mate are taking - saying the Obama 'was palling around with terrorists' that he is an outsider, dangerous, not one of us'. McCain - Palin are trying to play the 'race card' and the 'muslim card' and are conducting a despicable, disgusting, denigrating campaign that is wrong and using lies to try and fool or mislead the American public.
With the US economy in a downward spiral, McCain - Palin are talking 'trash' and not how to reassure the American public that the economy will be fixed and not to panic sell their stocks - oh I remember - McCain said 'the economy is not my strong suit' and echoed President Bush, just before the stock market implosion that the 'fundementals of the American economy is strong'. His fellow Republicans said that McCain efforts to give imput into the bailout legislation - helped 'blow up' the discussions.
McCain needs help...Palin doesn't know enough to advise him to change course - she has only been involved in 'national politics' for six (6) weeks. McCain had only met her once and talked to her for 15 minutes. There has to be numerous Republican women who were and are much more qualified to be VP. McCain should have made a better selection.
Note: October 10, 2008
A bipartisan Alaska Legislative Investigative Panel has stated that Governor Palin abused he power as Governor and violated the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Palin and her husband who had denied trying to get their brother-in-law fired as a State Trooper also denied firing an Alaska Public Safety Commissioner for not firing the Trooper...She should resign as VP candidate. Now...
Americans deserve better.

When Mayor Cockrel announced James Barren as the Chief of Police we all heard him say that he would not be dipping into the police department; he would let Chief Barren run his shop.
We received information that Chief Barren was set to name Ron Fleming his Assistant Chief but has been rebuffed by Cockrel and Deputy Mayor Saul Green. The source said Green opposed the appointment.
Fleming has a long history in law enforcement in Detroit dating back to the Coleman Young days. He later served as Deputy Chief of executive protection for Mayor Kilpatrick until he had run in's and disagreements with troubled Police Officers Loronzo Jones and Mike Martin, Kilpatrick's long time buddies.
Cockrel received kudos for his selection of Barren, Green and several other appointments from us .
In an e-mail to us Mayor Cockrel denied any interference with Chief Barren. He said Chief Barren makes the calls but keeps him in the loop.
Young gets petitions - State Representative Coleman Young II has taken out petitions for a possible run for mayor. Young, 25, is among a list of 32 potential candidates.
To share your opinion clcik on theblog or e-mailme with the scoop.

Say it ain't so - John....
The above column by John Bennett, if true, is a scary reminder that the future of Detroit can be damaged by poor choices for Mayor of Detroit.
Coleman Young II, the bastard son, of deceased Mayor Coleman Young who contributed to the decline of Detroit and architect of the wall between Detroit and the suburbs, wants to be mayor - based on his name, not accomplishments.
Benny Napoleon, the former Chief of Police who failed to improve the Department and who rose through the ranks, not on merit - but connections wants to be mayor - too...and he was tied to Sharon McPhail - that in of itself disqualifies him...
Sharon McPhail - OMG, not again...she can't believe that Detroiters will vote for her? Delusional - Egomaniac - only a doctor would know for sure...
Note: Its not how they come in - its how they go out....dlm
Detroit Police Chief James Barren should not reach back - to the Coleman Young era to bring back - Ron Fleming to be included in the police department. He has too too too much baggage to be effective or respected.
There are several former police executives that can be brought back - Brian Turnbull, Cara Best - to help the Department.
PC Ike McKinnon came in with hope - but went out in disgrace -
PC Barren shouldn't make the same mistakes...

Newly sworn in Detroit Mayor Kenneth Cockrel has made a good choice for DPD Police Chief...James Barren
James Barren whether he is chief for months or years, can have a dramatic impact on the Department, crime in Detroit and the residents of Detroit, in a very short time by:
Implementing a 'Verified Response System' for B&E alarms - this would allow officers to respond to crimes in progress - remove their security guard duties....and improve response times ....
Replace 'Crisnet' the complicated, time consuming and unnecessary main police report that officers have been burdened with.
Begin talks with Wayne County about building a new Jail / Medical facility that Detroit needs - because Detroit lacks jail space and is spending millions of dollars on unnecessary medical costs for prisoners.
Raise the hiring and training standards of Department: raise to 21 the hiring age, require two (2) years of college (or military service w/a psychological evaluation). Recruit at black colleges, and local colleges.
Detroit needs new police precinct stations, a new police headquarters and an end to the nepotism, favoritism and cronyism, end the DOJ oversight.
But the most important thing Barren can do - is get Money. He should fly immediately to Washington and meet with the Michigan Congressional Delegation and tell them to get Detroit money to hire, train and equip - 500 police officers - immediately.
He needs to have grant writers working 24/7 to get Homeland Security money, for new hires, a mounted section, a harbormaster unit, new scout cars, computers, police headquaters and new police stations. We are a border city - we deserve the money. Our National Security requires it..
He must make it clear that if Detroit doesnt get the money - that he can't comply with the DOJ decrees, can't properly protect Detroit residents or police offices and that the Feds should then take over the Detroit Police Department and pay the bills - something NO one wants to happen.
Get to work Chief Barren - best wishes..I am here for you.

ps...Ron Scott has never been a been a police officer, so he doesn't know what we really do or the conditions we have had to endure - and had to deal with the police executives that failed Detroit residents and Detroit Police Officers. He has a right to express his opinion - but 'livid' because the Mayor didnt consult him or his anti-police group about the selection of a new Police Chief - get real....he has been give excessive exposure by the media - I spoke out for years to improve the Detroit Police Department and appeared before Council to try and educate them about the needs of the Department and suffered the consequences via Department execs.. Detroiters deserve a first rate police department - I have and will continue to speak out until that happens - hopefully soon.

ETC ETC....
"Please. Respect! Please,"...belowed Rev. Ronald Griffin, as he followed the x-2nd most powerful person in Detroit (next to x-Mayor Kilpatrick) out of court, after she failed to accept a plea deal to felony charges leveled against her, in the - sex, text, lies - Mayoral scandal in which she was the 'other woman'.
She is not a fighter, a victim - she is an accused Felon, who knowingly entered into a job - a relationship - a conspiracy - a cover-up. She is entitled to a day in court, but she contiunes the Scandal that has denigrated and made Detroit a butt of jokes - nationwide.
Respect Who? a powerful woman, who is no doe eyed woman enraptured by a powerful man? A married woman with children, who cheated on her husband and children - knowingly - in her home? and hotel rooms. A woman who took away health care benefits from city workers. A woman who was ruthless with city unions - rather than trying to reach a fair deal.
She is NOT the sole support of her children! She has her x-husband and his family.
The important questions is who is funding her now - her home that received special mortgage loan, because she was the Mayor's #2, a loan that most all Detroiters could not get, her expensive suburban attorneys (Morganroth & Morganroth).
She should recieve the same pressure to settle - to plead guilty as did the Mayor - because she was the 'other woman'...
******************************************* etc etc etc....
Cobo Hall expansion seems now to be a priority - on the front burner, Why?
Because it brings in big money from the NAIAS. It has since its inception. Then Why? has the City failed to maintain Cobo and to hold managers, unions, and others involved in Cobo operations accountable. The FBI is / has been investigating individuals and contracts concerning the operation of Cobo - and they are finding criminal activity. They now have a conviction and others are sure to follow. But Why? has it taken so long - for years and years there have been complaints about the high costs of doing business - in Cobo.
Anyone who went to the basement of Cobo during the NAIAS could see the terrible conditions below the glitz and glamour of the main floor -Why does the basement look like a unkept dungeon. How much has the City not spent on maintenance? How much will it cost just to bring Cobo up to code?
Those costs should be addressed first - before any expansion costs are finalized - so that the public isn't hoodwinked into accepting an expansion that will costs hundreds of milions of dollars MORE than publicly announced.
********************************* etc etc etc....
Where is the Mayor going to get one (1) million dollars to pay his fine? in the - sex, texts, lies - scandal. Is it going to be from his charitable foundations? His campaign funds?
Where is he going to get the money to pay for his Florida home? and his new non-Manoogian Mansion home? Does he still own the home on Leslie Street, that cost Detroiters hundreds of thousands of dollars to protect (by DPD officers) while he was 'child proofing' the Manoogian Mansion.
Hopefully someone will prevent this - people didnt give money for a charity or for a campaign to pay for criminial behavior.
WHAT do you think?

I received a Life Saving Award (years ago) because there wasn't enough EMS trucks
available.....a young man was bleeding to death...its an old sad story..........how many more have to die???? .....watch EMS report WDIV Chl 4 - 9/10/08
But...I have also spoken out for years - the same deadly situation replicates itself in the DPD - not enough police officers....between 1980-85 Mayor Young laid off - 1,100 police officers - Detroit became 'the Murder City'....
Now Kilpatrick has let go 1,200 police officers.....
And Chief Bully-cumming is trying to put lipstick on this.....
(Cummings - crime is going down???)...well yes - the more citizens that move out - the less chance a crime will occur..Detroit it now the 11th largest city - not the 5th largest...
How many more people have to die - and or become victims of crimes (violent / non-violent)?
Cummings has failed to comply with thhe Dept of Justice decrees - now oversight extended to 2011...8 yrs?..
Under Cummings there was persistent charges that FBI crime stats were 'adjusted'
How does she have 31 years with the DPD???????
