Yikes!  Only September and I had to get out the down comforter for last night.  44 degrees when I got up this morning-- made it very tempting to just pull the covers over my head and go back to sleep!  Zzzzzzzz.......

Ahhh... last night enjoying a glass of wine on the deck, I heard them coming.   They got louder and louder, and I looked up to see their beautiful V formation.

Welcome home Canada Geese!!!  A great sign summer is coming!!!

Sick of the snow?  Sick of the cold?

I'll tell ya what I'm sick of--  the salt!!

Covering my car, rubbing off on my clothes, mucking up my shoes ('cuz ya know I gotta wear these silly dress shoes for work, but that's another issue.)

Looking forward to no more salt!!!!   You?

So... I'm leaving the grocery store tonight -- without a coat on because it's 50+ degrees-- and two guys are standing there discussing the Brewers' bullpen.

Brewers?  50 degrees?  No coat?   Seemed like it was suddenly April.   I was ready to go tailgate at Miller Park!!!

I was out cross country skiing my usual loop yesterday morning and saw something very cool:  Deer prints in my ski tracks.

Apparently, a deer had realized it was easier to walk in my ski tracks than to hoof it through the untouched snow.  It stayed in my tracks for about a quarter mile!!

I took a pic, but unfortunately you can't see the deer tracks.  Oh well.

With all this snow, I couldn't resist-- I made my first snowman!!! He's huge!! More than 6' tall.

He's now guarding my backyard, a glass of pinot noir in hand, and hoping for a long cold winter.

I was out on a bike ride today and what a ride it was!!!   I knew it was going to be windy, but man, I just about launched!

As I was coming back from the Port Washington area, the wind started swirling, then really strong straight winds and the hail was coming down sideways!!!

When you're riding 20mph, and then hail is hitting you at 30mph, it tests your fortitude.   I just kept tapping out the miles, but it took everything I had not to get blown off the road.

Who else got hammered by the weather today?

I changed out the water in my hot tub, cleaned up a little bit in my sunroom which is full of herb plants, and went for a wonderful bike ride.

When I was working on the hot tub, I was able to wear shorts and no shirt and it felt fine!!! (It's on the south-facing side and is protected from the breeze.  Spectacular!!!

FOX 6 Anchor/Reporter: Thanks for visiting my bio page. You must be a curious person, so we already have something in common. Mix your curiosity with a passion for detail, a love for people, and a hunger for adrenaline, and you have the recipe for a news person! I grew up (although some people would disagree with that) in Palo Alto, California. While pursuing my Ph.D. in Geography at Texas A&M, I decided to explore the wild and wacky world of television news. I was hooked. My journey has taken me to the South (Atlanta), the Northeast (Lancaster/Harrisburg PA), the West (the San Francisco Bay Area), and now the Midwest. Over the years, I have been fortunate to have my work earn national awards from NBC News, the U.S. Coast Guard, and The National Water Safety Congress, as well as multiple Emmy Awards, and awards from the Associated Press. While I was working in Pennsylvania, the 6pm newscast I anchored became the highest rated top-50 market evening newscast in the country. The biggest honor, however, is knowing that you are watching. I take very seriously the responsibility we have to bring you accurate and up-to-the-minute information. Covering the news for you is not just a job; it's a privilege. Now some trivial tidbits you would never know about me if I didn't tell you: *I was once attacked by wild dogs in India and underwent rabies treatment. *As a graduate student, I published an academic paper that provided the first evidence Native Americans domesticated the California Fan Palm (Washingtonia Filifera). *My Grandfather, Robert T. Frederick, was the youngest and most wounded General in WWII. He created a unit called the First Special Service Force, a precursor to today's Special Forces. Winston Churchill called him "the greatest fighting General of all time", and actor William Holden portrayed him in the movie "The Devil's Brigade". *I feel deeply fortunate to live in this great country, and I am quietly indebted to every war vet who has risked his or her life for the freedoms we all enjoy. Be sure to check out my video bio and my blog, and if you're still curious, or you have a story you would like me explore, please give me a buzz at the TV station. I will take your call, because I'm curious too!
