Brad Hicks' Blog

When I was at the gym today, ipod in my ears, all of a sudden -- and much to my surprise -- Bananarama's Venus started playing.  I don't even own the song so I'm not sure how it got there-- and it's not a very good workout song.   I had my ipod in for software servicing recently, so I'm guessing they somehow dumped a few songs onto my workout playlist.  I'm mystified.

I am, however, responsible for Michael Jackson't Beat It being on my ipod, and whenever the shufle lands on this song I hope no one can hear it.  I'd be embarassed.  There are a couple other embarassing songs on my ipod as well.

LeBron James was recently outed for having Mandy on his ipod.  I don't have any Barry Manilow on mine.  That would be REALLY embarassing.

Which brings me to the point of this blog--  It seems everyone has a few "secret songs" hidden away on their playlist that  they hope no one else will hear.   Fess up-- what are yours?

Now, here are a couple good workout songs to amp you up:

I'm not really embarrassed by the first one at all, but I'm sure others might be. It's the other two I'm kinda embarrassed about.

Cledus T. Judd - How Do You Milk A Cow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5oYVsQTD-c

I have Rage Against the Machine on my mp3 player too----"Bulls on Parade!"

---i can not complete my heavy reps w/o my Machine blasting in my ears!!!!

My most embarrassing ipod song is probably Avril Lavinge-"I'm with You"---still---i don't care who hears it when i'm working out---i just like that song----it relaxes me and keeps me focused.

{ohh----and paul mccartney's "michelle" from the rubber soul album ------but i never listen to it when i'm trying to hold 255 pounds over my chest!!!----DANGEROUS----don't laugh}

HA!!! I am not embarrassed about any of the music I like. If others don't like it or want to make fun, go right ahead.

Hay jen24, Kool! I love Spongebob. The songs are cute. I use to play the CD for my children at the preschool where I worked. We would just dance to all the music.

When I got my MP3 player I downloaded a lot of my nephew's CDs into it as well as "my" music so I get an interesting mix and surprises when I have it turned on random.

I am a fan of music for sure. I like something from every genre.....but I do have my favorites

Okay...I confess. I like Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Madonna (her early years only), Billy Idol, Queen, Phil Collins (only a few select songs) and Prince. But I only listen to them at home when I'm in a blue mood. I usually only listen to country. I love the new country, but I have a special place in my heart for the really old country (Dwight Yokum, Hank Sr., Johnny Cash...)

Nothing really shakes the blues like jamming out to Purple Rain or Let's Go Crazy though.

I don't "work out", so I don't have work out music. Unless doing 6 loads of laundry a day, cleaning 2500 square foot house, tending to 8 kids and 3 grandkids and 3 dogs, cooking dinner, answering business calls, scheduling estimates and jobs, going to work at night and running on 2-5 hours of sleep every night counts as a work out.

Gitrdone I also have Billy Joel, Madonna, Queen, Phil Collins, and Prince. I have a song from Veggie Tales, stuff from Disney . . . I figured if I like it, why not?

FOX 6 Anchor/Reporter: Thanks for visiting my bio page. You must be a curious person, so we already have something in common. Mix your curiosity with a passion for detail, a love for people, and a hunger for adrenaline, and you have the recipe for a news person! I grew up (although some people would disagree with that) in Palo Alto, California. While pursuing my Ph.D. in Geography at Texas A&M, I decided to explore the wild and wacky world of television news. I was hooked. My journey has taken me to the South (Atlanta), the Northeast (Lancaster/Harrisburg PA), the West (the San Francisco Bay Area), and now the Midwest. Over the years, I have been fortunate to have my work earn national awards from NBC News, the U.S. Coast Guard, and The National Water Safety Congress, as well as multiple Emmy Awards, and awards from the Associated Press. While I was working in Pennsylvania, the 6pm newscast I anchored became the highest rated top-50 market evening newscast in the country. The biggest honor, however, is knowing that you are watching. I take very seriously the responsibility we have to bring you accurate and up-to-the-minute information. Covering the news for you is not just a job; it's a privilege. Now some trivial tidbits you would never know about me if I didn't tell you: *I was once attacked by wild dogs in India and underwent rabies treatment. *As a graduate student, I published an academic paper that provided the first evidence Native Americans domesticated the California Fan Palm (Washingtonia Filifera). *My Grandfather, Robert T. Frederick, was the youngest and most wounded General in WWII. He created a unit called the First Special Service Force, a precursor to today's Special Forces. Winston Churchill called him "the greatest fighting General of all time", and actor William Holden portrayed him in the movie "The Devil's Brigade". *I feel deeply fortunate to live in this great country, and I am quietly indebted to every war vet who has risked his or her life for the freedoms we all enjoy. Be sure to check out my video bio and my blog, and if you're still curious, or you have a story you would like me explore, please give me a buzz at the TV station. I will take your call, because I'm curious too!
