Check those credit card "notices" Big Increases!
I have had a CHASE Credit Card in good standing for over a decade now, & took advantage of a few "Balance Transfer Offers" in 2005 & 2006; I locked into 2.99% & 3.99% rates "UNTIL THE BALANCE is Paid in Full".Today I was paying the bills, & when I got to the Chase bill,
I saw a one-page "IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CHANGES TO YOUR ACCOUNT", effective 01/09* A New Account Service charge of $10 A MONTH
will be added to your account.
* Your Minimum Balance due will increase from 2% to 5% of your balance.
-------------
Because they screwed up other folks loans, they want to tack $120 A YEARto my account? This is an unfair method of increasing my agreed-to APR! The Minimum balance increase of 150% in amount is extreme by any standard. I think Doubling The minimum to 4% would be sufficient.
Check those notices tucked in the 8 pages of ads enclosed in your bill!

After going two-for-four in voting, I'm happy for the Two that I got right!
Last night's MyFoxBoston post below:

C’mon in the Ballot Booth with me!

hopeful

OK, here's the skinny..I'm 2-for-7 in Presidential Elections, so I'm no Washington Redskins in predicting these things. I am, however, expecting my batting average to climb to .375 after Tuesday. This Year with wholehearted support, I'm drinking the Kool-Aid of change & voting for Mr. Barack Obama(surprise!) in the U.S. election.
Here in the great state of Massachusetts, I'm also voting:
YES on Question 1- No Income Tax..
YES on Question 2- Decriminalization of Grass (Long Overdue, let Police fight crime)
NO on Question 3- "Hey, Teacher, Leave those DOGS Alone!" Steven Crist of the Daily Racing Form (& owner of two retired Greyhounds) wrote about the 'trickle-down' effect if Dog Racing Is Banned. HORSE RACING FANS, you are warned! http://cristblog.drf.com/crist/files/column100308.doc
Regardless of YOUR Stance, get out & vote tomorrow...Early & Often!

" Mr. Morality, Sal DeMasi, strikes again!"
Deval Patrick played his hand of "Texas Hold-Em" with House Speaker Sal DeMasi over Casinos in Massachusetts, & wound up a loser. Now DeMasi has begun throwing Jokers into the game, adding deception of his minions along with the standard bogus claims of DOOM
if Massachusetts accepts GAMBLING in the state!
This "same old song & dance" DeMasi spouts over gaming in the state everytime a proposal reaches the statehouse is insane! EVENTUALLY State Representatives MUST come out from under his thumb & DO THE RIGHT THING! Let 2008 Be the Year of the Slot!
lets have a two-year trial on Video Gaming. Install 2,000 slots each@ Suffolk Downs, Wonderland, Raynham, & Plainridge Race Course and see if the world ends in Massachusetts. I’m betting it won’t; it’ll provide Millions in tax dollars; save existing jobs (& add LOTS of new ones)at the state’s 4 tracks; & give a much needed boost to the Mass. Thoroughbred Breeder’s Association, adding jobs at farms around the state!
Sincerely, Bob Grant, Fitchburg,Ma

New MGM GRAND at Foxwoods= No Racebook!?
A heads-up to horseplayers coming to Conn. Casinos this summer. The New MGM GRAND @ Foxwoods in Ledyard,CT. opened May 17th. I figured I'd check them out while it still had that "New Casino" Smell. Driving up to the valet, I realized Karen & I were the only car there! This is 12:30pm/Et, when crowds should be coming & LEAVING! The valet said it was real slow the last few days.
There was No line arriving to check-in. Yet I was told the smoking suites were not available at this time. I said, "OK..just point me to your racebook & I'll bet a few Doubles waiting for the room."
Check-In girl Gail looked up at me & said,"Sorry, we have no racebook." Stunned silence ensues.
"But you can walk to Foxwoods. They have a Racebook." she added. Of course, it's six furlongs away.
I figured I'll skip the Belmont distance round-trip for now, & grab a bite instead. "Where's the 'Grand Buffet' located?(NYUK,NYUK,NYUK)"..Now Gail is getting antsy. "Sorry, Mr.Grant, we have No Buffet here. But Foxwoods has one".
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I'll be staying at Foxwood's Original Great Cedar Hotel here on out.
Suites are $100 less, & 5 furlongs closer than "The MGM GRAND(NOT)" P.S.: Still NO NYRA @ Foxwoods..which means..NO BELMONT !!-Bob
