Looking at our message boards there is  a lot of talk (as usual) about race, color, and lots and lots of name calling.  Here is my thought process.  I am white, people of color have called me white because thats is what I am.  I have friends who are black, thats what they are.  I don't consider myself better because of the lack of color in my skin, I don't consider them better because they have more pigment, it is just a way to discern a group of people.

If you consider the people who get upset because the first thing that people see is color then those are the people who want to keep a division in the races.  Tell me how hard it is to not look at the color of someones skin, we all have eyes it's hard NOT to see.  So the problem here is that there are ignorant people both black and white that take the color of skin and assign stereotypes to that color.  Then pigment turns to labels, but heres the catch there are all sorts of labels, Tall, Short, Fat, Thin, Ugly, Pretty, Hairy, Bald ETC....These are just a few descriptive words that describe someone, although some are not socially acceptable, it is what it is.

It's a shame, but I honestly think after reading so many of these hate filled posts about Obama, that the REAL FEAR among republicans is that Obama is a man of color. In a way, I feel sorry for him and the U.S. because I don't think this country is ready for him and no matter what he does, doesn't do or attempts to do, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is going to be good enough. I think if he had identified himself as anything other than african-american, he wouldn't have to endure such disdain.

Whatever Pipper!! Christ give me a break and I hope that's your opinion that people fear Obama because he's Black. You can't tell me Obama got more of a pass for his remarks than a White guy that is a fact. You know my reasons why I don't like Obama and it's not because he's Black and to say that is a stupid reason to dislike somebody. Now if they're stupid, then that's a different case.

I don't think he got a pass on anything! Biden has made remarks about the reason for the D.C. school system's failure is due to the minority student population and nobodys in an uproar over that. And, the mere fact you think Obama gets passes, is exactly my point!

I dislike the man because he called his grandma a racist because that was the era that she was born in.well my polish grandma or my Spanish grandma was born in the same era,my one grandma had a 3rd grade education did not no how to drive and the way she was raised was you get married have kids and take care of your man and family I could have cared less what my grandma said about anyone but she never did say anything bad about anyone SHE WAS MY GRANDMA and was and always be on a pedestal even though she has been dead for 15 yrs and my other grandma has been dead for 30 yrs.He would not have been here if it was not for either one of his grandmas.

and his grandma must have done something right if his mother fell in love with and married a black man so now how can his grandma be a racist??because his mother saw a man not the color of his skin.

Tell it like it is Barney! I have had people walk up to me and ask me do I have white in me. What would that make me, better or worse? I can remember thinking Ava Gardner (a mother star from the 50's) look like she has a little black in her. What was that all about? Was I saying that black accounted for her being so beautiful? What I believe is that beauty's only skin deep, and you can't judge a book by its cover.

Michigan Person, you can love someone and still acknowledge their faults. We do it everyday, get real! And bye-bye, you say you're not affiliated with any party and jumped on the bandwagon when 'red' said she/he was independent and everybody 'called them out'. Well, I've been reading your posts for some time now and you sound like a staunch 'republican' cheerleader, to me!

See, Barney, THIS is what I mean. Frivolous nit picking and attacking, trying to find ANY LITTLE THING to pick apart, like vultures! I realize this is 'politics' and IT IS a dirty game, but I'm starting to take some of this stuff personally and I'm absolutely PSITIVE, I'm not alone!

Pipper
as far as I'm concerned I loved and still do love my grandmas and they both sit and still sit on a pedestal they could never in my eyes do anything wrong or have ever done anything wrong.

Barney, Pipper, take it from someone who has never voted in a city, county, state or federal election in his life, nor had we plans on voting, as when we have decided to vote for someone, it would have to be with these merits behind them.

1. Experience on the job.
2. Military background.
3. Pride in the country he/she was President.
4. Honor and Dignity.
5. Truthfullness.
6. Ability to be full educated.

Let's start with BARACK-NO NOBAMA.

1. Experience on the job....142 days seated
2. Military Background......0 days.
3. Pride in this country....0, Nil, None, Nada, Goose-egg. That is the lowest form of treason any one person could do to this country after the 911 attacks on our own soil.
4. Honor and Dignity. "I've never said this, but I'll say it here. It takes but an honorable man to accept defeat gracefully and with dignity, but to walk away sad in a victory: (not bad for an old guy, eh?), and he had neither honor nor dignity as far as we call tell.
5. Truthfullness. Truth be told, he has motorboated and skipped over every issue addressed to him concerning his upbringing and his faith. No truth, no honor.
6, Educated? Yes, it's easy to make a mistake while speaking, for there is a thousand cameras and flash bulbs going off, plus you're tired and this has been going on and on and on for an eon of time, and you just want to lay down.......zzzzzzzzzzzzz. But to say that you've been in 57 states and only have 1 more to go?????????
Where'd the education from college go?

But the one that

But the one that caused us to decide to finally cast a vote, and cast it Republican, is when BARACK-NO NOBAMA went overseas to meet with the leaders of the people we are involved in a fight with. Why didn't he just stay here and stick the knife into each and every veteran who went overseas?

And to have his wife's theology on her life put her into a hatred for WHITEY and to state she is finally proud to be an American, is the straw that broke alot of people's back.
If she doesn't feel as if she is proud otherwise, then move to IRAQ.......

Now, take John McCains political service, his military service, and piece it together.

Who do you think is a better man with the experience, the dignity and honor for his country, and his ability to speak outright?
Oh, by the way, wasn't it Joe Biden that said he was a good looking, clean cut and well dressed man (in reference to a black man named Obama?). Even Rudy Guillani has agreed that BARACK-NO NOBAMA is simply not qualified,

...............YET......................

Piper,
Why take it personally, you don't know the man, and he'll probably never know your name either. ALL politicians are in it for themselves but it is the time of year where we have to pick the lesser of two evils. My point to you is this, I don't like Obama, not because he's black, but because he is LIBERAL. What you seem to be doing is exactly what you want to abolish, you are judging whites by saying that we are all afraid of a black man becoming president. I am afraid of a LIBERAL becoming president, I am a traditional conservative with some liberal views but Obama is WAY to LIBERAL for me, so please don't lump us whites all in one category of being scared of a black man because that is far from true. don't get me wrong I am very sure there are some out there who feel this way but lumping us in a group is devisive and wrong. Shock, I think you might be right on this issue sweetie!!!!!!

Oh by the way not all republicans are white is what you are inferring. Let's remember Dr. Martin Luther King was a republican and I am damn sure he wouldn't be afraid of the color of Obamas skin, I think he might be afraid of his politics, but then again maybe I am wrong!
