Well I don't know about anyone else but I have been BLOWN AWAY by our wonderful Governor.  Does this makes sense to anyone else.  Democrates are known to raise taxes and Repulicans cut taxes.  Granholm raises our taxes (while we are in a one state recession), cuts school funding, (which she said that she would NEVER do), and then complains that this is not her fault but the fault of the past administration.  Then she does what Republicans are know for and that is give tax breaks to movie production companies to come and film in Michigan, yet the tax breaks benefit the state but not the people of the state, unless the movie company hires Michiganders which then does bring jobs to us.  Our economy will not recover unless we give tax breaks to businesses to create jobs and then incentives to keep these jobs in our state.  She raised all of our taxes and we are all suffering because of it.  If Obama is put into office I am afraid, he will take a page out of Granholms book and we are going to see a country who is suffering more then we already are!!!

There will be a few ad's for extras, they bring their own tech people and will use very few local sound, light, or production people, simply because there isn't many to begin with.

Barney,

I will tell you right from the get go I am a Jennifer Granholm supporter. In May of 2005 Jennifer cut the taxes http://www.theoaklandpress.com/stories/052105/loc_20050
521004.shtml

That move has brought Michigander's work and will well into our futures. Now on raising taxes yes but they had to be. With the elimination of the two billion single business tax meant we the citizen would have to shoulder more of the burden. The last part, we all know well, inflation has driven up the price of everything. On these blog's people have blamed Jenn for everything including the hardships of the big three, but that and most of the other problems really are the responsibility of Washington. The devalued Dollar and the 9.3 trillion dollar national debt are gifts from George.

Barney, although we agree with Tall in his postings, we also disagree. No matter what party lines you hang your hat with, it is always inevitable that any elected politician is going to end up saying, "I had no choice but to do it", or "It was the fault of the last administration", or "The bill would have passed if the XXX party hadn't voted against it". She cannot control what the House and Senate is going to do. If she doesn't like a bill and veto's it, they will override the veto. Then she retaliates by refusing to do this, and they the battle begins.
How many times have you heard the big CHEESE in Washington say, "it's a bipartisan thing", and we're the ones end up beings screwed?

Good posts, and thanks.

To me it just makes more sense to give tax breaks to companies who create jobs and keep those jobs in the country/Michigan. She understood that when she created tax breaks for the movie companies. I get where your coming from tallman, and I am not a Granholm supporter, but the people can't burden much more on their shoulders and when you have a stalemate in Lansing that almost shut down our Government here in Michigan because of a tax hike that is a sad day, especially when our Government employees go on there vacations instead of staying in Lansing and getting it done before the final hour!!!

Jenn had to do something to get the legislators off their butts. It took them over seven months to get a budget done and it really should have only taken three or four. Why seven?......to make Jennifer and the Democrats look bad. The Republicans were playing political games, rather then rolling up their sleeves and getting to work. If we make the Democrats look like they can't handle the State .....were a shoe in next time.

Tall also thinks that the 11% increase in state income tax is OK. Seems to forget or ignore that Companys are folding up their tents and moving offshore or to other states because jenny has made the cost of doing business in Michigan near impossible.Same with Mackinac Conference recomendations of $1.9 BILLION in State Budget Cuts, of which she did zero. Ignores Murrays Money Minute comment that over 58% of Michigan business owners are against her and her taxes. Both Tall and jenny say they are for employment yet kill it with every vote or bill that the citizens never get to vote on.Keep in mind that Tall doesn't own a business or read the Financial publications. Mich. comes in DEAD LAST for business climate in all areas, not a Corp. friendly state. See HB5198-Tax on Businesses.See HB5194-State Income Tax Increase, 11%..Did YOUR income increase by 11%??...See also that Council of Govenors rate jenny as a ZERO.......

That's what we mean Tall. With your Gov being Dem, the Republican controlled (we assume it to be) Legislators make it that much more difficult to the point that 2-3-4-5-6-7-8 months goes by and nothing accomplished.

Why does it have to be a stinking game between the people that's elected to work for the people who put them there?

For one second, we wish we could wave a magic wand and turn the Dem's into Rep's, and vice versus to see how they'd react to what they are doing right now.
