Can anyone tell me with 100% honesty of why there is a Spanish language Debate going on in the USA for Presidential elections?

What happened to speaking English while being a true citizen who is able to vote?

I keep saying this and it seems to go nowhere.    !!!!!Speak English or Get OUT!!!!!!!

I haven't heard of the debate as of yet. But it doesn't surprise me. I'm with you on the speaking the english language and if they don't like it then they should have never come here. In my job I deal with the public all day and these people get mad at me if I don't speak Spanish.

These morons shouldn't be choosing our president, they should be decorating their prison cells.

Why not Rot, I am already paying for Spanish channels on my cable. I still dont understand why I have to pay for channels I will never watch or understand. Why should I pay for a Spanish Channel?
Why should I have to bend the rules and put politics into Spanish for those idiots who say that they are American and yet chant speak English?

Ask a Democrat...they are the ones with all the answers when it comes to that!

And I agree about the Spanish Channels we pay for that clearly will never watch....another way of us wasting hard earned money!

If you watch baseball on ESPN, Jon Miller will sometimes talk in Spanish. Last year the NFL had a Spanish commercial with Gonzales of the Chiefs. There's ESPN Deportes which ESPN will mention quite a bit. I got 3 local spanish stations on my satellite and 34 more channels which I don't pay for taking up space on my satellite. Why should Hispanics learn English when you got the media, newspapers and the government backing these people. The ACLU, just put them on an island and nuke it. Only thing they are interested in promoting their far left wing agenda

I was going to post the article about this myself, but it looks like that it's not necessary.

Last Saturday, while I was at the bank, there was a couple, with their daughter (she looked around 11-12), talking with the bank teller. Well, actually, the couple wasn't talking to the teller, they were talking to their daughter in Spanish, and she had to translate what they said in English to the teller. This was a bank matter, involving receipts. I really felt bad for the poor girl. This isn't the first time I've seen this. The last couple of times, the parent's "translater" was around 5-6 years old.

First, we get the former Mexican president (Vicente Fox) campaigning in the U.S. Now we have political debates in Spanish to appeal to voters who never bothered to learn English. Like GrayWolf said, why should they need to learn with today's media catering to them?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again... We are NOT doing these people any favors by catering to them in Spanish. The more we do, the less incentive they'll have to learn English.

Plain and simple , teaching a child Spanish as a primary language in this country could and should be a form of “Child abuse” . It limits their ability to compete in our economy (and the world economy) isolates them from the MAIN culture of this country and ties them to a culture of failure.
Spanish is not the language of this country , it is in fact a matter of “law” . Amy one who promotes that language is actively damaging this country.

Bush has said in a few speeches that he thought immigrants should speak English. It seems that most (not all) of the immigrants from other countries do move here and speak English....BUT....the people from anywhere that speaks spanish don't seem to??? My church allows a spanish group to meet and practice in our building....enabling if you ask me.

Those of you who have cable are the only ones that can make a difference on that having to pay for spanish channels. Can you do business with a different provider? What about satellite? I don't have cable or satellite because I get enough BS on regular TV. When times got $$ tough it was the first thing to go and the thing I missed least.

There is an article in U.S.A. Today about the move to enable cable subscribers to choose the channels that they want to pay for. Call or write your elected officials if you want to make a change. Tell others to do the same.

Some of the networks probably won't like it because they exist on the pre-determined packages. I wonder how many illegals subscribe to cable services?

Remember patriotism starts at home and you must be willing to take action for your country if you want to keep it.

What I hate is the "Press 1 for Spanish, Press 2 for English" messages I get every time I call a business. It seems to me that if you are going to offer a language other than English, you should offer it in ALL languages. What about the Japanese living here? Or the Chinese, Germans, Italians, etc. What button do you press to get it in their languages?? Seems highly discriminatory if you ask me.
